Jack White writes Bond theme

2008-08-03 by ninjuice | 29 Comments
Jack White and Alicia Keys have teamed up to record the theme for the next James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. The first duet to be chosen as a Bond theme, "Another Way to Die", was written and produced by Jack White (who also sang and played drums on the track).
Producers of the film said that
Quote:
[We're] delighted and pleased to have two such exciting artists as Jack and Alicia, who were inspired by our film to join together their extraordinary talents in creating a unique sound for 'Quantum of Solace.
Amy Winehouse had previously been reported to be recording the song. Her collaborator, Mark Ronson, cleared things up, saying that Winehouse was not ready to record.
Daniel Craig returns for the second time as James Bond in Quantum of Solace, which is due for a UK release on October 31st and worldwide release in November.

Seems like a pretty odd combination.
Should be an awesome movie in any case, even if it's the lamest title for a James Bond movie ever.

At least Winehouse wasn't recording it. That would have sucked.

Have you heard Icky Thump....?

I'd definitely say he's relevant. The title track from Icky Thump was a pretty successful single, at any rate.

It's an odd combination, but hopefully they made a better song than Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name." It wasn't bad per se, but I expect better from a Bond theme.

I always thought that Muse would be the perfect candidate...regardless of what you think about them, they're so over-the-top it'd be perfect..."Uno" would be an ideal choice.

But the new movie looks good.

Heck yes for Muse doing this. Or, at the very least, Bellamy with a pretty good backing band (or whatever's needed for a great song).

i would have liked a muse theme or possibly one from the last shadow puppets. The age of the Understatement sounded a lot like a bond theme to begin with

Well clearly, Jack Black is cooler. The vocals are going to suck regardless so it looks I will be harming some A7X fans earlier than anticipated. I like Craig much, much more than Brosnan. This Message Edited On 08.04.08

ever since i heard "ashes to ashes," i've thought Faith No More (or i guess now, Mike Patton and collaborators) would make a kickass a bond theme.

agreed^ You Know My Name was pretty fitting to Casino Royale, and when the theme was re-done by orchestral instruments, and played in parts of the movie, it was actually great.

Muse would be absolutely perfect for the job, this Alicia Keys/Jack White thing will likely fail, but who gives a shit, Quantum Of Solace, despite the name, will be awesome, seeing how Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery

I think this is going to be cool. Jack is so well-educated in such a variety of different musical styles, I'm sure he'll match whatever Alicia Keys throws at him. And dam, that girl can sing.
