I can also see some singers being cracked over the head with a guitar when performing vocals on such songs as Lump & So Watcha Want.

Wow, this is gonna be killer. Rock Band is so much more fun multiplayer than Guitar Hero because everyone started getting so competitive about being able to beat songs on expert. Rock Band is about the unity, and everyone trying to work together to beat a song.
Although, I do fear Guitar Hero 4's addition of drums and vox will strike a blow to Rock Band...

There's two things that I think will minimize the impact.
First of all, GH3 had a pretty mediocre setlist. Sure, there were some good tunes, but the awesome to meh ratio wasn't very inspiring.
Second, it was falsely advertised. It was Legends of Rock, but it had Slash and Tom Morello only. I like Tom, but he needs another couple albums before he qualifies for legendary status. Keep in mind, that there was also talk of having to battle Skwisgaar, and I can't forgive them for not making that happen.
Fan reactions are generally one step behind, so with the new features and in RB2 and the face rocking setlist combined with the fact that its made by the original developers who made the first two games, I don't think the game has anything to worry about.

Am I the only one who thinks that Bob Dylan's Tangled Up In Blue is a weird choice?
And I think GH4 is going to provide some stiff competition. Especially on the Wii since Rock Band decided to give us Wii owners the old "fuck you" with no downloadable content, or World Tour mode...yet Guitar Hero 4 promises downloadable content, more customizing options, and of course the music creator option.

How did "Rock Band" become even MORE AWESOME. To steal an idea from Steerpike, it looks like the "Awesome!" to "Meh." ratio is pretty incredible. I would list all of the songs I'm excited for, but that would take up too much space.

i love playing rock band, but vocally i am a good singer, and the other ten people i rotate around with in game agree with me, and i sing the songs how they were meant to be sang, and i still get like 85%-92% most of the time on hard/expert. plus the mic has problems picking up raspy vocals, like metallica or iron maiden, you can't really sing them like the originals. Bah, i rule at the guitar part of the game, and i am sick at gh3 (can beat everything but devil and ttfatf, only because of the intro on ttfatf). Rock band 2 could be good if they stopped using those crappy covers where the vocalists are flat all over the place.
