Muse to headline Reading?

2006-01-18 by Iai EMERITUS | 5 Comments
Muse are 'as good as confirmed' for the headlining slot at this year's Reading festival - or, so say several leading websites dedicated to the festival.

January is always a hotbed of rumours regarding the Reading and Leeds festivals, and in the majority of cases, there's more than a grain of truth to them. If the past is to be believed, these rumours are usually started by either the NME, who sponsor the festival and help choose the line-up, or by Mean Fiddler themselves, in order to generate hype. So, although this isn't confirmed by either source yet, it can practically be taken as read.

Should this be true, it will be Muse's first appearance at the festival since 2002. Also strongly rumoured, though not quite to the same fanfare, are The Strokes, who also last played in '02.

The line-up, or at least a chunk of it, is likely to be announced officially sometime in the first week of February.

Muse are pretty dang good live. They have so much energy. Too bad their music could use some improvement.
