New Kars Landman Single

2025-04-23 by Kars Landman | 5 Comments
After several years of silence, Kars Landman finally released the first single of his upcoming album. Going back to more of a progressive metal foundation, found previously on 'Everlasting, Ever-Fleeting', the release process of a brand new full length has finally started.

'Distant Light' can be heard below, or on all popular streaming services. An instrumental is also available.

Shameless self-promotion I know, but I am very happy to finally have released some music again! Got a lot on the shelf waiting to be freed.

Going to be fully honest with you my guy, these vocals need a lot of work. They're written decently enough but they are quite off pitch and massively underproduced.

Instrumentals be pretty slappin' though

Ha, I can see that. Mostly a stylistic choice cause I thought it fit best emotionally. The song (and most of this record) is in essence already 5 years old and redoing everything makes it sound a bit fake in my opinion. Will see if it makes sense to tidy it up a bit for the full length. Thanks though, I really appreciate the feedback and the kind words!

I can't be the only commenting on this so here's a bump.

And yeah maybe it's just a preference thing but for me the whole vocal recording/production needs work. For me at very least there would be some double tracking and harmonies, a reworking of the way they're EQ'd, and definitely some combination of subtle pitch correction and/or redone takes.

Haha yeah not doing double tracking / harmonies was very intentional. If I were to add them I would want it to be a band mate so it would be possible to perform live as well. Not a fan of adding backing tracks just cause you are bad at writing a melody that convinces without them. Rather be guilty of that than fake my way through it. But I will look into EQ / pitch correction in places here, maybe that makes sense. Don't wanna track these lines again cause I like them emotionally and historically.
