Ozzy Osbourne retires from touring 2023-02-02 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 21 Comments | Heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne used his social media to announce that he will be retiring from touring, canceling all upcoming European show dates. Ozzy's statement goes as follows:
"This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans. As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine.
My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.
I am honestly humbled by the way you’ve all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time, but in all good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required. Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really FUCKS ME UP, more than you will ever know.
Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way. My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.
I want to thank my family……my band…….my crew……my longtime friends, Judas Priest, and of course, my fans for their endless dedication, loyalty, and support, and for giving me the life that I never ever dreamed I would have.
I love you all…"

All the best to him
| | | father time remains undefeated
| | | All the best to him (2)
At least I had the chance to see him live with Sabbath.
| | | i mean imo he deserves to fucking relax but i know it's what he loves to do
| | | i hope he has enough money because sadly it seems like a lot of aging rockstars/metal people are forced to tour to sustain their lifestyle/family lifestyle etc. well into old age.
tho i think he does mean it when he says he loves performing, it's what he's always done since he's a kid
| | | "i hope he has enough money" lol.
| | | youd be surprised man, a lot of these guys, once they get to be a millionaire they start living a lavish lifestyle, so although they are millionaires, everything is more expensive so theyre just like maintaining their lifestyle, happens all the time
| | | "A lot of these guys" aren't married to Sharon Osbourne
| | | I love the fact that even when having to retire, he´s still trying to find a way to perform, what an absolute legend.
| | | Love you too Ozzy
| | | Enjoy a good rest, prince of fucking darkness, you deserve it.
| | | Ozzy has always been a favorite of mine and I'm bummed I never got the chance to see him live or with Sabbath. That said I'm glad he's hanging it up if his body can't handle it anymore. Hopefully we still hear from him sometimes via interviews and that show he has with Jack. He's always cracked me up
| | | Time to get some well-deserved rest. Was lucky enough to see the original Sabbath lineup and it was an out-of-body experience.
| | | Sucks that he had to end it this way, but I hope he enjoys a long retirement.
| | | Fortunately I had the chance to see him live, he‘s one of a kind, an absolute legend.
| | | Re: money, one thing that he might need to ensure he has money for is paying for the treatments he's trying in order to slow down the progression of his Parkinson's disease. Because of the nature of the treatments they're often very costly and not guaranteed to work.
But I think with a lot of these older musicians part of it is that it's been part of their lives for so long, they worry that if they slow down they'll just keel over because the momentum of touring and recording is what keeps them going.
| | | wow it was on my bucket list to see ozzy before he retired or passed, this fucks me up
| | | It sucks watching these guys you grew up with have to retire but at least he's still alive. Would have loved to have seen him but maybe it's for the best, I can still remember the disappointment in my soul finally seeing Bob Dylan live and how awful he sounded.
| | | saw sabbath back in 05 at ozzfest, the same year maiden played, still a top 5 concert ive been to, sorry to hear that this happened to the man the myth
| | | If he lost all his money right now, Black Sabbath residuals (and residuals from 80ies era ozzy albums) alone would make him a millionaire again pretty quickly. And that's ignoring all the business stuff the Osbourne family has going
| | | Just looked it up on spotify, 13 million monthlies for black sabbath, and 9 mill for ozzy osbourne, totalling 20 mill, that's a quarter of taylor swift lol. he's fine
