@Lasssie - They did, then they kinda walked back on that statement and said the album was inspired by Bloc Party.

I honestly like the song, definitely a lot more than anything off AL, but I also think it's pretty dumb that the album doesn't come out till next year.

Song is different, but it rules. Definitely a weird comeback single but makes me interested in what the album is gonna be. Long rollouts suck. I much prefer the month or less style.

Five months is just a long time for a band that hasn't dropped anything in over five years. Just kinda feels unnecessarily long to me

While everyone and their mother is trying their hand at pop punk revivalism, Paramore was brave enough to double down on the path they were going before...

So much for the return to their old sound they promised. Tbh I was expecting a mixture of S/T and After Laughter, which I guess would have been tonally inconsistent, so kudos to them for picking one and sticking to it?

That said, Farro's drumming is really the only interesting thing going on here. Williams' voice is restraining so much relative to what its capable of. I guess this format is not calling for any bombast, but nonetheless. The same problems I had w/ AL and Williams' solo stuff are present here; it just has an offputting, adversarial and lowkey pretentious vibe to it. In short, it sounds really fucking white. That's the best way to put it. To steal from a forgotten Sputniker, "a stench of lilac"

I like what is going on here instrumentally, just do not care for the chorus at all and think Hayley is boring in this

After Laughter rules hard! I was hoping for something a bit more colourful and fun, but this sounds pretty cool. I'd have happily taken an After Laughter part 2 though.

This is in fact very much like a fusion of paramore's own different styles.

Not super crazy on Riot (some grating moments) but Brand New Eyes is great. After Laughter is also fantastic, arguably their best albums! Self-titled also isn't half as bad as its made out to be.
