idk that they're mixed quietly but they're certainly mixed fucking obnoxiously w whatever awful effects are all over them

Bands first two albums are thrash and shredding classics! I remember enjoying the first single but this track really, really is not doing it for me tbh. Hopefully the rest will be solid though. I can't exactly place what's wrong here for my ears but something about this track is just kind of off-putting to me

I dunno I just think releasing individual singles off albums is not the best strategy, it often creates wrong expectations. Just release the whole thing already.

Definitely unorthodox. Has some strong Voivod vibes, which is never a bad thing. My expectations for this new record are surprisingly high.

You said in the previous thread that you got to listen to this in advance correct Plazz? What are your thoughts on the album if I'm not just making up that memory?
Voivod mention has me thinking I should re-listen with my ears not so set on Toxik

@combustion yes, true. Preparing an album review right now. Quite honestly I think it's fucking massive as a whole, it has a lot going on. I'm more of an album than a track-by-track listener, so I can understand individual tracks turning people off. Listening with ears "not set on Toxik" certainly helps.
@rockarollacola the Voivod vibes are there yeah, even Josh Christian said this is their Voivod-style track on the album, I guess it's the angular main riff that does it.

Man these guys didn't lost a beat. Not the usual, by-the-numbers thrash, unortodox and tehcnical AF, true to the Toxik brand. Can't wait to hear the full album

Definitely the vocals are jarring but I have always found it hard to place melodic vocals of kind of atonal rifling. I have had the same issue with yes some Voivod and some Nevermore tracks.

Musically it sounds like they haven't missed a beat though. I have not listened to any eps they have released since think this so I am looking forward to just listening to this album as a whole.
