Bret Hoffman Dead at 51 2018-07-08 by let the riffs flow through you | 20 Comments | Bret Hoffman, original vocalist of death metal band Malevolent Creation, has died at the age of 51. He had been recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.
Hoffman performed on the first three Malevolent Creation releases until he left the band after 1993's Stillborn album. He would return and depart over the years, performing on The Fine Art Of Murder and Envenomed before being replaced by Kyle Symons and later returned Doomsday X, Invidious Dominion, and most recently with 2015's Dead Man's Path before being replaced by Lee Wollenschlaeger.
Guitarist Philip Fasciana paid tribute to his former bandmate on Facebook, writing: "Can't believe my best friend/brother has passed away! 40 years of friendship and 30 years of playing music together. There will never be ever anyone I loved more than Bret Hoffmann and writing music and traveling the world with. He was truly the best friend I ever had and will miss him deeply. R.I.P. my brother!!!!!"

RIP Bret. The Ten Commandments is one of my favorite albums of all time, Retribution and Stillborn are classics as well. Every Malevolent album that he was on is excellent, imo. Fuck cancer!
