I do understand peoples gripe with inducting Hip-Hop artists in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If there was a hip-hop or a country hall of fame, and Metallica got nominated into thier hall of fame because of their movement or whatever, fans of that genre would understandably be pissed.

I am not disagreeing that punk is a lifestyle, but it is also literally a genre of music. My point was when people think "Rock and Roll", they don't think of the movement/lifestyle/culture, but rather the genre. I highly doubt the Hall of Fame uses the movement/lifestyle/culture of rock 'n roll for their nominations, but rather they use their contributions to the genre of rock and roll instead.
