Considering Michael Keene has been cited as a notorious bridge burner from several of his former band mates, this really comes as no surprise.

However, I think both sides of this cancellation stem from personal beef and both sides deserve blame. The fact that both the band and Soundworks are calling upon the fans to "voice their opinion" on each others facebook page is fucking childish.

I read the article dude. Hence where I found out they lost valuable equipment. But when it comes down to it, music is music. I would rather a band show up and put on a show than not show up because they don't have the right guitar. I mean shit, Periphery toured without their vocalist for a leg of their tour because he had some throat issues. I saw Municipal Waste play a show where their vocalist had strep and they literally had other vocalists come up, reading off lyric sheets, and try to do the vocals. It was legendary.

Also, news flash, people can lie in writing. Just because I type that I'm a millionaire doesn't mean I am one. Is it all the Faceless' fault? Probably not. I'm sure emotions got hot which has led to a very public argument. What it comes down to is the music and if you can't play your songs without a computer then what does that say about the songs themselves?

If, at the core of it, you can't play a song because it doesn't have all your samples or you don't have the exact guitar pedal to get the exact tone then yes, that does say something about your music.

nope. a song is a cohesive piece. its all the pieces coming together that make it good. who cares if you need a computer to complete it. who cares what it sounds like without it, thats not the way they wrote it. thats like saying "if your music doesnt sound good without the guitars then what does that say about it?" that it needs the guitars to sound good. what of it?

I'm all for bands using technology in their writing and writing stuff that has no hope of being performed organically live and using backing tracks to fill in the arrangements, but it does say something that the music cannot be performed at all without the bells and whistles. Live music, at least in the rock and metal context, is not supposed to be guys relying on computers or CD players to make them sound good. If a metal song is shitty when stripped down to it's skeleton of guitar+bass+drums+vocals then it's probably a shitty song that relies on production to fool people into thinking it's good.

That's my 2 cents anyway.

Agreed Adolf. Planetary Duality was easily their peak. There were some great solos and a banger or two on Autotheism, though.

a little birdie with lots of connections in the metal scene told me the reason everyone quit in 2014 is because Keene was using band money to fuel his coke addiction, any drama going on with the band is to be expected at this point tbh

Went to one of these cancelled shows. Can say that Soundworks is awesome to bands that tour here and they rep them hard, and did at the show. Keene has to have done something.
