Evanescence to rework old material 2017-05-11 by Toondude | 18 Comments | Evanescence is still around, only this time with a (sort of) new album. Vocalist Amy Lee posted on Facebook the announcement of the band's latest project, entitled Synthesis.
According to Lee, the album will feature complete reworkings on some of the group's past songs, removing their "rock" sound in favor of a more orchestral and soundtrack feel. Lee also noted that there will be two new songs featured on the album, marking the first time since the self-titled album in 2011 to contain any new material. Composer David Campbell, who has worked with the band before with The Open Door, is also involved with the project.
There is no release date that is currently scheduled, though the album is expected to drop sometime this fall.

Sigh... six years and *this* is what they're doing?
| | | It might turn out cool cuz many of their tracks lend themselves well to that, but a proper new album would have been more interesting.

| | | easy cash grab, why not?
| | | Man. Adema, Evanescence, Blinkin Park... Truly we are in the golden age of music.
| | | WAKE ME UP
| | | sounds like a good idea, i like orchestral stuff
| | | Actually I'll be really curious to hear this; band has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.
| | | This gonna be like a "Red"-style sound then with strings and shit? I'm down. Last album wasn't bad at all.
| | | bet this will rule
| | | I think this is a really cool concept. I don't know how I feel about this particular band doing it or the music that's getting the rework, but I dig that they're trying something new with their art. Honestly, I wish there were more bands that felt comfortable revisiting and revising their old stuff.
That being said, it will only work if they dedicate themselves whole-heartedly to the concept. I agree, if it's just a cash grab (the recent My Chemical Romance release comes to mind) then it's going to suck. Don't just put strings to the songs... re-imagine them!
| | | doubt it'll be just a cash grab, band delivers

| | | BWAAHAHAHA
| | | You don't get to call yourself "still around" when all you're doing is trying to sell stuff from forever ago.
| | | they released an album called Evanescence, don't know if u noticed
| | | wow amazing
| | | inspired album, didn't rehash any stuff, seamlessly changed sounds, etc etc
