Body Count don Black Hoodies

2017-03-24 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 29 Comments
The politically charged new album from Ice T's band Body Count draws closer to release, and with a week to go, the band have dropped a third track from Bloodlust with an accompanying music video.

The song, "Black Hoodie", comments on police brutality and racism, and the lack of change in attitudes for the past two decades. It makes particular reference to the murder of Travyon Martin by George Zimmerman. Martin was described as suspicious due to what he was wearing, a "dark colored hoodie".

Bloodlust is released March 31 via Century Media.

I wear my black hoody all the time but I'm white so it's okay
Although a lot of people cross to the other side of the street when they see me coming in their direction.

I'm really quite nice : (

This fucking riffs.
Lyrics aren't my side of the political spectrum so I don't feel inclined to comment on that, but I can appreciate how much the instrumentals jam.

THIS IS HOW IT HAPPENED :

OUT LATE NIGHT

JUST CHILLING WITH MY CLICK

NO ONE HAD A GUN

EVERYONE WAS LEGIT

ONE MY BOYS WAS DRUNK

IM TALKING TOWED BACK

HE COULD BARELY TALK OFF THAT COLD MAC

THEN THE COPS ROLL UP

I DONT KNOW WHY HE RAN

MAYBE TRAFFIC HORNS

I STILL DONT UNDERSTAND

THAT MOTHERFUCKERS CRAZY

THE HOMIES [incomprehensible word]

HE MIGHT HAVE GOT A BLOCK

AND THEN WE HEARD SHOTS

*DER-DUR-DER-DUR-DER*

I find it really odd that a man who played a police investigator for a fairly long period of time on Law n Order could also write this, Cop Killer and a dozen more anti-establishment jams. Not a jab, just curious.

It's weird hearing rap metal in 2017, but this is pretty good and the riffs are tasty. Pretty excited to hear this album.
