Saosin Announce New Single/LP

2016-03-16 by PostMesmeric | 72 Comments
Post-hardcore band Saosin have reunited with their original vocalist Anthony Green (also of Circa Survive), and after plenty of teasers and the beginning of a fresh tour, have released a single to promote their upcoming album, Along the Shadow. This marks the first LP from Saosin since 2009's In Search of Solid Ground (the last with former vocalist Cove Reber), and the first new material with Green since their debut EP, 2003's Translating the Name.
The upcoming album, Along the Shadow, will be available on May 20. Check out the video for the single "The Silver String."

Sounds like a circa song with obligatory screams added unnecessarily.

I'm still looking forward to hearing the album but this only solidifies my low expectations

This wasn't bad, may check this out when its released. Never really got into circa or saosin, but I've listened to a fair amount of both.

This is pretty sweet. Doesn't riff quite as hard as their debut but it's still pretty solid. Looking forward to the album.

Definitely happy that we're getting a new Saosin album. The song wasn't amazing, but it was still very well put together. Having high hopes for these guys.

Green's vocals on choruses are always so catchy, it's great. Song was pretty good overall and I'll definitely check this out when it drops. But it is weird reanimating a dead Hot Topiccore bands corpse like this.

"Sounds like a circa song with obligatory screams added unnecessarily. "

Exactly the same thoughts

"beats everything on the last two Circa Survive albums"

No way. Descensus had some sick tracks on it.

But anyways, this is alright. I mean, it's hard to expect Green to sound the same as he did like 13 years ago, but I kind of miss the raw and chaotic sound they had on Translating the Name. That being said, it's only one song, so I'm still excited for this, just due to the fact that it's Saosin with Anthony Green again.

Amazing. I am so happy about this. You know what this sounds like? This is if Circa continued their evolution from Blue Sky Noise. Green's vocals are INSANE.

Circa's evolution after BSN reminds me of post-NTFP Anberlin. More mature? Sure. But a lot of energy was lost, except for a few songs here and there.

This makes me happy. So much passion and energy. Can't wait for the album.

Didn't notice Jax Taylor took over on lead vocals though LOL.

Circa survive comparisons are dumb. Take away the vocals and the instrumentals are very different.

What are you wondering ProjectFreak? Anberlin is the band I'm most disappointed in for losing energy and mellowing out (Coheed is starting to do the same), and after the amazing Blue Sky Noise, Circa released two ho-hum relatively quiet albums without momentum, and that's what it reminds me of.

cove was almost comically bad, especially towards the end when he had dreads.

I guess he's okay on the albums but, that's not saying shit

same with people preferring kurt travis over jonny Craig, which is just as ridiculous

I chose this song for a project for Language Arts and thought I did pretty damn well. Everyone got to present their project but I couldn't. I asked my teacher why I haven't presented yet and she goes. "Saosin isn't appropriate for our school, its to dark. It sets bad examples for kids in my class." I totally snapped when she said that I just yelled and said "Well least it's better than talking about big butts and boobs and sex! Least it actually means something!" And got suspended for talking back to a teacher. I'm sorry isn't there a thing called "freedom of speech?" Oh wait! No, this is America. There's no such thing as justice, freedom or freedom of speech. That's just a fairytale. What I would like to say to my shook administration is: Fuck. You.

The funny thing is that Kurt Travis is actually a better vocalist than Johnny now. And I mean that in the most complimentary way to Kurt while also being insulting to Johnny.

Anyway, song was decent but I've never understood why Translating the Name was so highly praised

Hahaha oh you're kidding me. Gonna google that. Cove had his moments. Probably sucked live, but he had a nice tone that fit slower or medium-paced songs. Green is def better though in just about every way.
