The Wrens finish album

2014-12-06 by NordicMindset | 39 Comments
New Jersey based indie rock band The Wrens have finished recording their currently untitled upcoming fourth album. The record marks the band's first since 2003's The Meadowlands, and a release date has not yet been specified.

In a blog post announcing the news, guitarist Charles Bissell also shared new information
regarding his health problems, which led to him spending Thanksgiving in a hospital recuperating from strep pneumonia, a collapsed lung, full renal failure and sepsis.

The band also shared snippets of the album online earlier this year in July.

The fella is still recuperating from his strep pneumonia, a collapsed lung, full renal failure and sepsis but you brats want an album that you can download for free and add to the 20 billion TB of 'info' stored on your devices with which you record the world.

You're not out there living it, absorbing and creating from experience.
You're here, trapped. Gawking at a screen and not understanding why 'product' has been delivered so you can 'consume' it through your earholes and analyse and inevitably criticise to infinity in the hope that one day you too may become sput staff.

he recovered physically, he's just "re-evaluated his priorities" after that traumatic experience.

still, the album was done around that time. these guys have lives outside of music so they don't have to be 100% focused on finishing this thing ASAP and getting it out cuz they're the fuckin Wrens, they know we can wait.

for once i actually agree with zak

it's kinda true people whine and shit about albums taking a while to come out but it's not a serious issue and audiences aren't bangin on the fuckin tables and harassing bands; people generally just make an sarcastically overenthusiastic comment and then get on with their lives. they're not perpetually "gawking" at the screen although i'm sure zak meant that as a joke. i could see how the commentary puts pressure on the band but tbh bands should just not listen to that shit and put the album whenever they feel like cuz they gotta know these audiences aren't serious.

it's somewhat more serious when a dude's life is severely fucked up and people are like "where's the album" but i think that's more cuz people didn't know what was going on not that they're entitled pieces of shit and still the point remains that the band should ignore that shit cuz it's fundamentally stupid.

me neither, man. unless you follow the band closely or happen to catch the articles that sporadically come through stereogum you probably wouldn't have known.
