Casualties Of Cool released 2014-05-14 by SomethingSimilar | 29 Comments | After a hugely successful PledgeMusic campaign by the veteran progressive metal musician,
Devin Townsend today released Casualties Of Cool - a departure from Devin's usual
style and a foray into country and ambience with collaborator Che Aimee. He noted that he
aimed for the music to come across as "dark, quiet, and special", and that the album
was "a way to make music for myself, without pressure from anyone to do things a certain
way".
The pledge campaign reached 521% of its target funding over its run, with Townsend noting
that any extra funds would go towards the creation of his next record, a sequel to 2007's
Ziltoid the Omniscient, related graphic novels and side projects, as well as a
portion being donated to local animal shelters.
The album is available immediately for backers of the pledge as a digital release (FLAC and
MP3), which can be found here : www.pledgemusic.com/projects/casualties-of-cool
