I love both their old sound on Penance/Patience and First Temple as well as the new things they're doing with the groovier jamband-esque influence.

I think this is a natural progression - Penance was full on post-hardcore, First Temple merged that style with some jazz + alternative sounds and now this album is expanding on that sound while getting rid of the post-hardcore
