I wanted this to be a Anthony Kiedis/Cedric Bixler supergroup god damn it
| |
This could be really good. Could be.
| |
woah
| |
I was excited until I read the article..
| |
hmm
| |
Omar sucks
Froosh should be doing the vocals
| |
who's their singer? thought Cedric would be doing voclas
| |
yeah, can't support anything Omar does anymore, will continue to wait for Zavalaz which will rule
| |
This sounds fucking terrible considering both bands recent outputs have been shit.
| |
no i meant when i heard there would be a rhcp/tmv supergroup that cedric would be in it and sing
| |
will either be amazing or terrible
depends what drugs omar and froosh were on before hittin the studio
| |
check the record 'omar rodriguez lopez & john frusciante' (the one w a polaroid pic of a red fender jag) that shit is tight
| |
not a fan of that vocalist, will listen, but im not getting my hopes up.
| |
wow interesting stuff
| |
saw le butcherettes live and she ruled but their record is kinda bleh
| |
supergroup of ultra megastars
| |
could be cool
to the guy that was hoping for anthony/cedric instead of john/omar...wat
| |
Should have been Jon Theodore, Flea, John Frusciante, Ikey Owens, and Cedric Bixler-Zavala
| |
that wouldn't be as super tho since this is already the superestgroup
| |
they already made an album it's called deloused
| |
actually yeah this article title is misleading considering JF hasn't been in rhcp in 5+ years and has collaborated with omar before
| |
sounds like this could be cool but honestly probably won't.
Should have been Jon Theodore, Flea, John Frusciante, Ikey Owens, and Cedric Bixler-Zavala [2]
| |
Looks interesting.
| |
This could be pretty great, we'll see what happens.
| |
^_^
| |
This could be a really cool group, I'll have to keep up with them
| |
hmmmm
| |
Kind of a misleading title. Doesn't interest me that much but if they threw in Cedric or something then maybe I'd check it out.
| |
Supergroups are almost universally terrible. A band is not equal to the sum of its parts.
| |
you guys are crazy, Teri Gender Bender is fucking awesome. Listen to Bosnian Rainbows if you haven't already. This makes way more sense than having Cedric in this band lol.
| |
aids have you heard le butcherettes
| |
ye i saw bosnian rainbows perform a few months ago and they were tight, this will probably be pretty solid.
| |
cedric hasn't sounded good since like 2006 anyway, why would anyone want that.
| |
This is going to be a racket
| |
a noisy hurricane of an effort
| |
To everyone upset about the headline, I do apologize, but there's only so much you write in such a small text box for headlines. It also sucks that these guys have such long last names. Had to make do. Sorry about the confusion either way.
On topic, though...uh...whatever. I'm more interested in what Cedric's doing lately. I never really got into Bosnian Rainbows, though Omar and John's other collab album was actually really good. Also, Omar and Teri sure are working together a lot. I mean...a WHOLE lot.
| |
Ok, let's be honest here folks.
Cedric is not a great vocalist, and has never been. His raw energy and enthusiasm in ATDI is what made him good, and on occasion his whiny voice was bearable in TMV. Omar is not really a great guitarist either (he has had a few momentary lapses of guitar genius in his career, but its mostly just been pretentious prog wankery). TMV has really allowed themselves to be carried by their production and not by substance.
Furthermore, I get the feeling that either Cedric or Omar must be a tremendous Diva because first Cedric and Omar departed from ATDI due to creative differences with the other band members, and then TMV had constant lineup changes throughout their career, with Cedric and Omar really being the only constant band members and the faces of the project. Now that they don't work together, its anyone's guess which one is the 'misunderstood genius' diva who doesn't play well with others. Whatever the case, Frusciante is an actual musical prodigy (his solo work is phenomenal). If he has most of the creative control of this project, it will probably be pretty good.
| |
will either be amazing or terrible
Nah, I think it's probably gonna be pretty average. I had the same theory about Bosnian Rainbows and it just turned out being average, and I think Zavalaz will also just be average.
| |
woooooaahh
| |
The term "supergroup" makes me think of a bunch of middle aged, currently irrelevant musicians who are trying to relive their glory days and bank off nostalgia. That being said I'm definitely gonna check this out.
| |
I can only imagine how much sleeping would get done watching these guys play together.
Seriously, the TMV/RHCP tour was horrible, and I used to love both bands.
| |
This has promise, but it's left to be seen whether the "four songs of electro / dub / afro-beat /
avant-freak / jazz-like conversations of instrumental ecstasy" are actually any good.
| |
skoj why dont you read the entire news post, its not both bands just putting on a live performance. it's a collabo with one member from each band durr da durrrrrrrrr
| |
Headline had me kind of interested. Body of the news article had me not at all surprised. Far from a supergroup, far from the first time these two have worked with each other.
| |
"its not both bands just putting on a live performance"
If I saw RHCP/TMV put on a snooze fest, Id be so butthurt that it would totally ruin any future endeavors they might have for me.
| |
@decoyoctopus: Pretty sure it's Omar that is the Diva. The other members, Cedric included, would literally say that it was his band and that he was the dictator who wrote all of their parts for them
| |
This will be bad. Froosh's Woman is on vocals and mixed/produced the EP. The sample s I heard were average at best.
| |
woah
| |
This could be amazing
| |
Kimono Kult
Les Butcherettes
Bosnian rainbows
Purple monkey dishwasher
| |
zakalwe
| |
tommygun
| |
Looking forward to hearing this
| |
Neither Frusciante or OR-L are still in RHCP or Mars Volta.
Dumb title.
| |
At the Drive In was so fuckin awesome I was upset about the breakup even after Mars Volta was kicking ass. I didn't really dig anything they did after Frances the Mute tho... :-/
Also I would change the title of your article if that is possible? It is kind of misleading.
| |
Coolest thing eva, I hope this won't be a dissapointing supergroup like chickenfoot
| |
lol Chickenfoot.
| |
fuckin headline. I thought Ikey, Cedric or any other TMV members would be participating on this...
When i read "Teri Gender Bender" it took away my mild excitement.
| |
Changed the headline at the request of a number of comments. However, I have no idea why the headline entry box allows for longer headlines in post-publishing than it does when you're first publishing the article. If anyone can explain that for me, that'd be cool.
Whatever. Fixed, folks.
