This is slightly better than Uno! overall because it sounds closer to Foxboro Hot Tubs. Still, Nightlife is horrible.
|
| |
Green Days unloads a steaming Dos
|
| |
as I write on all Green Day news...
fuck this band
|
| |
Overall better than Uno but band really needs to stop
|
| |
Please, Green Day, retire. For your own sake. And ours.
|
| |
..........yeahh........-_-

Holy shit enough already. So sick of GD.
|

I anxiously await the 10 reviews that try to convince us that this isn't a pile of shit.
|
| |
another stream of bat's piss
|
| |
that single sucks ass
|
| |
stray heart is a great song.
|
| |
Nightlife can either be crap or a breakthrough depending on the way you look at it.
Dos seems kind of dark actually. Not as good as I was hoping for. The first half of the album is
decent
but some of the other songs are not as strong. I might end up going 3/5, and my 3.5/5 for Uno stands
strong.
Wild One itself is brilliant, and really stands apart from every thing on either album. Intro (first
two songs) and outro (last song) of Dos would represent a much better album, but unfortunately that
isn't the case. I think I am going to make a custom mixtape, and use the intro/outro of Dos with a
few of the good songs and then add the best songs from Uno. If anyone wants to help with song flow
(like which ones I should use and in what order) go ahead and make suggestions.
|
| |
Maybe I really do like Dos more, because I seem to like more songs off of it.
Here is the tracklist I created. Go ahead and try it out and see what you think. I am using Windows
Media Player to make the playlist.
Mixtape Tracklist (draft)
1. See You Tonight
2. Nuclear Family
3. Fuck Time
4. Loss of Control
5. Stay the Night
6. Let Yourself Go
7. Lazy Bones
8. Stop When the Red Lights Flash
9. Kill The DJ
10. Wild One
11. Stray Heart
12. Amy
I am considering adding one or both the following from Uno: Troublemaker, Oh Love. The flow in the
beginning sounds better when Nuclear Family is track 2 and Fuck Time is track 3, so I switched 'em.
The plus is that now Nuclear Family is the opening happy song, and then
Fuck Time comes in as the badass song, forming a good one-two punch. It just didn't sound right the
other way around, and Nuclear Family wouldn't sound fitting in any part of the mix besides the
beginning. And if you are going to the presence question Kill The DJ, relisten to Uno and you will
realize that the song is much more fun to listen to than most of the album. From the start I loved
it, but I feel people have let the lyrics blind them from the good vibe.
So far I am feeling the flow that resulted from this mix. Sounds like this will be my goto when I
don't want to listen to every song from ether album.
|
| |
eh
it's better than uno but seriously they shot themselves in the foot doing this album trilogy thing
tre better be some fantastical fanfare of going away or i'm going to eat a baby
|
| |
Huh, I never knew you wanted to do just that. And the trilogy thing is mostly about the money.
|
| |
why the fuck didnt they just pick the best songs from all three albums and make a single 12 or 13 song album. holy shit so unnecessary
|
| |
because $.
|
| |
That 12-13 song album would have been brilliant (for Green Day's standards). When Tre comes out I am
going to put the best songs from that in my mix tape (see above) and form the single tracklist that
should have been put out. Then I'll maybe make a list and ask people to post their ratings.
Anyone else like Lazy Bones and/or Wild One?
|
| |
dude what
|
| |
True thing. Just doing what I do I guess.
I give my mix tape a 4/5. Dos a 3.5, same as Uno. Dos begins strongly but ends in a strange way, with
most of the second half besides the last song sounding a bit weak. "Wow! That's Loud" is so bad it is
almost a 21st Century Breakdown PARODY song.
|
| |
Yeah I hate this band
|
| |
Whats with all the bad mouthing havent you got anything better to do ? If you dont like it there must be a better way for you to spend your time but then again some of you are ALWAYS on this website you must have no fucking life.
Anyway i agree with TrantaLocked, i think Dos has less crap then Uno so far.
|
| |
Yes, there are a LOT of people commenting about their hate here, and
haters love to target Green Day even more than JB. As you can see, I have been the one wasting the most
time in this thread.
I just love this band.
|
| |
"If you dont like it there must be a better way for you to spend your time but then again some of you
are ALWAYS on this website you must have no fucking life."
Yes because taking fifteen seconds to post a comment to this site means that you have no life
Or wait, would we have more of a life if we actually liked Green Day?
|
| |
Ofc you can hate something thats not the point, at least develop or come as a lowlife troll, simple.
You're being too nice, i like this band but ill admit they have flaws.
|
| |
"at least develop"
Yes but that requires more time.
And as you said, we already don't have lives as is. Why exacerbate the issue by spending more time to give evidence to an opinion?
|
| |
i'm hoping it will be slightly better than Uno so that Downer can use the summary Dos!/5
|
| |
The issue is where you have people swearing out of reason.
"didnt even jam their last piece of shit"
"as I write on all Green Day news...
fuck this band"
"Holy shit it's worse than Uno, I can't even imagine how fucking bad Tres is gonna be. "
Andcas also also cursed, but he was talking about Nightlife, which is really, well, I'll leave it at
that.
And it will be funny when Downer is confronted with Tre. He will be forced to either rate 3/5 or
not review at all. Also, inb4 "Tre" isn't "Tres."
|
| |
I remember when the majority of people on Sputnik seemed to be excited for these new albums. Haha what a joke. fuck this band. never liked them, never will
|
| |
Surprised this has no reviews yet, Uno was flooding with them.
|
| |
Don't worry I'll put mine soon lol.
|
| |
Seconded andcas. If you've never listened to this band at all you're missing out. Those three albums were awesome. Can't base an opinion on them solely from their new stuff which I don't care for at all.
|
| |
Liking the album. Lazy Bones may be one of my favorite Green Day songs in a while. Funny how if this was labeled another Foxboro Hot Tubs album people wouldn't be hating it as much.
|
| |
What the holy fuck? It's even worse than Uno...
|
| |
Why shouldn't I be surprised if it sounds just like UNO?
|
| |
Holy shit, Ashley is starting to grow on me. The chorus is simple and straightforward (at first annoyed
me), reminiscent of the songs from Insomniac, but the rest of the song is well paced and even badass. I
think I like Dos a bit more than Uno.
Overall Dos is a darker album compared to Uno, but has better music. I thought Uno had some elements
from past albums (pre-21 Century Breakdown), but Dos no doubt sounds like throwback Green Day with some
fresh twists. It sounds like Shenanigans/Insomniac/American Idiot + their new style.
|
| |
"The issue is where you have people swearing out of reason."
Excuse me, I didn't realize this was kindergarten!
|
| |
You're right, more like 8th grade with comments like "fuck this band" and "piece of shit." This thread
is filled with a bunch of pre-teens on their period. Seriously, grow the hell up.
By the way, I'm upping my rating to 3.75/5. Not sure whether to round up or down, but for now I'll keep
it at 3.5 and see if a listen a week from now makes me feel more strongly for the album.
|
| |
Someone's a Green Day fanboy.
|
| |
True thing, but not a blind fanboy that over rates.
|
| |
if everyone hates it and you like it that makes you a fanboy...
|
| |
You know, I was pretty fond of Uno, but this is just absolute trite. I knew this was going to happen, Tre being released seems incredibly daunting now.
|
| |
"You're right, more like 8th grade"
This is likely true. But not because they use profanity when displaying their contempt for a band
|
| |
It shows disrespect towards the fans. I'm not a huge JB fan but I don't go insulting him.
The profanity won't always necessarily reflect immaturity, but some phrases that are often said are
completely unnecessary. And I mean, you can have an article on the WORST music ever made, and it still
isn't right to just start insulting the band. Just state your dislike with respect and then leave it
be. A great way to show honest contempt is to listen to the album thoroughly and then rate
fairly/accordingly. I am not telling anyone what to do, just what, based on experience, makes sense.
And Calc, I already agreed that I'm a fanboy. Also realize not everyone hates it.
|
| |
Wow, the more I listen to this, the more I seriously consider this as one of, if not, THE worst album I've heard all year.
|
| |
Strange, as it is growing on me.
I know I already mentioned this but Ashley is so badass. It has a shallow surface but a deep core, and
is one of the best punkier songs I have heard from Green Day since American Idiot. It could have been a
single off of Nimrod.
|
| |
Nightlife is a contender for worst song of the year.
|
| |
500/5
|
| |
TrantaLocked, this whole site is full of middle schoolers and high schoolers.
Out of all the music sites I check for news, this is by far the worst, and most immature. Every single article is just full of people trashing the band and these little asshairs saying "your music taste sucks bro!"
Im not that fond of Green Day anymore, but jesus christ, these people are so elitist. Youre talking about music for fuck sake. We arent talking about healthcare issues or you know, something that actually matters.
|
| |
Because saying something sucks automatically makes you an elitist.
|
| |
"demigod93
Someone's a Green Day fanboy."
So what if they are? Who gives a fuck? Youre a fanboy too. Otherwise I doubt youd be on this site. In fact, everyone here is a fanboy. Just different preferences.
|
| |
"breakingthefragile
Because saying something sucks automatically makes you an elitist."
Most people on here are and I dont think they would be on here if they werent an elitist of some sort. Look around. This site mostly consists of people bashing music tastes, as if people give a fuck about other people's opinion on their preferences. Im just pointing this out. You cant invalidate someone elses liking or preference, and it seems like this specific site, most of all, is the worst with this. Other sites have their share, but not nearly to the extent of this site.
Entitlement generation? I think so, which is hilarious considering that kids these days know everything about music, yet theyre probably being raised in the worst era, and have no idea what it was like to grow up during an era where music on the whole was actually good.
|
| |
I agree man. The funniest part is that most of the "elitists" are
still teenagers. Mature adults don't try to shove their opinion down others' throats, nor do they
swear like 8th graders talking about how much JB can suck it. Mature people have respect for each
other, and Sputnik can either be very mature or very, very immature depending on where you go. Green
Day's news posts will usually be half and half, which is a bad ratio.
I listened to the first half of Green Day's discography today. Insomniac is starting to sound boring
next to Dookie and Nimrod. After hearing those three in a row, Nimrod surprisingly sounds like a 4
to me, so I upped it. I also have finally given myself enough time with the first two releases. 1039
and Kerplunk and both are 3s. I have now rated every major Green Day release, and I feel like a bad
fan for taking so long (8 years).
|
| |
I was 10 or 11 when I bought Dookie at Best Buy, on my own (I am now 18). First CD I ever purchased,
actually.
|
| |
I bought American Idiot when it came out, if that counts. I was born in 1994, same year Dookie came
out. I can't be any more of a fan, as I didn't choose my date of birth.
|
| |
Andcas you reminded me of the time when I started getting into Green Day back in 98. I bought Dookie, Nimrod and later Warning on cassettes. I still have them, along with their discography bought on CDs. Funny is that I can't find Uno! anywhere here in Romania, but the shops are full of 21st Century Breakdown leftovers.Ugh.
|
| |
You can find it on Amazon if you have to buy online.
My uncle went to a Green Day concert in the mid-90s. I'm so jealous, and I couldn't believe it when he
told me.
|
| |
Not trying to be a creep but you have it at 4/5
|
| |
Oh shit, haha I see what my mistake was. You were talking to Insomniac, not saying the album sucks.
|
| |
@TrantaLocked - Yeah, that's my last resort I guess. I'll get it along with the others coming out on Monday and December.
|
| |
Album is fucking cool. Band needs more love on this site anyways...
|
| |
"Out of all the music sites I check for news, this is by far the worst, and most immature. "
And yet you're still here.
Hmmm....
|
| |
"were you two bumbling idiots even old enough to remember picking up any of the old green day albums in record stores?"
Im probably older than you are. I actually remember the entire 90s decade, unlike probably 90% of this site.
|
| |
and here comes RS again the biggest bombay bicycle club fan there is!!
|
| |
Says the guy who gives enough of a useless shit to actually rate albums as if anyone cares.
Please, what do you think of the latest Opeth album. The world is just dying to know.
|
| |
I rate albums for myself motherflippa.
Also whats your deal you only show up on Foo Fighter and Green Day news then proceed to bash the entire site's taste for doing the same shit you're doing. Just leave and go join greendayauthority.com to live a sheltered green day fan existence.
|
| |
I don't like this album much but I appreciate the hard work they put into it and feel happy for their fans that are enjoying it!
|
| |
"I rate albums for myself motherflippa.

Motherflippa? really?
That was QOTSA news. I read most articles for news. Im not interested in what shitty metal bands high school kids like, and as a result, just cant pass up the opportunity to comment when I see some little fuckwit (like yourself) start spouting off about said band when hes not fit enough to smell their farts.
You listen to a lot of shitty electronic. Good for you. Its a trend amongst the kids these days. You'll get over it when you hit about, 18.
|
| |
Ha how the fuck am I an elitist in any way? Bitch I have Green Day and Foo Fighters albums rated 4s Im the furthest thing from one. You just seem like you cant handle anybody not liking the bands you like so they HAVE to be elitists. Basically stop taking everything so serious for a second and soothe your butt pain.
|
| |
How are you an elitist?
Well, you give enough of a fuck to actually rate albums, and then trash bands in news articles.
I think anyone who does that is an elitist of some sort.
Thats not the case really, cause I listen to a lot of stuff, but I also realize that trashing bands doesnt accomplish much either. Its extremely pointless.
I gave Uno! and Dos! a shot. Uno! actually isnt bad and sounds like old Green Day, which I like, but im not into them much anymore. Thats pretty much the extent of it.
Im more interested in actually finding good music, and dont care about how much you think a band sucks, because nobody considers your music taste but you.
Do you go around telling ugly chicks theyre "ugly" too?
|
| |
suks
|
| |
HAAAA WOWWWWWWW dude all you fuckin do is trash bands and entire genres do you hear yourself I mean damn you're stupid!!!
So now anybody who rates an album is an elitist too huh? I guess all music reviewers that ever existed are elitist. All music is created equal and nobody should ever dare rate any of it. How silly everybody is!!
|
| |
"Im probably older than you are. I actually remember the entire 90s decade, unlike probably 90% of this site."
For someone who makes posts with such an abnormal amount of sheer idiocy in them, your grammar is almost flawless except for "im".
|
| |
Yeah youre definitely under 18.
|
| |
For someone who makes posts with such an abnormal amount of sheer idiocy in them, your grammar is almost flawless except for "im".
That key doesnt work.
Btw, great reply. Youre as vague as they come.
|
| |
And you are most definitely a faggot.
Also why are you still here if this place is so bad. Lol, you're just a fucking troll.
|
| |
Fucker you've said all metal, electronic, and hardcore music sucks yet somebody says something about Green Day and you lose your marbles. You cant see the irony in that huh? You really are fuckin dumb aint cha?
|
| |
Actually no.
I actually listen to some of every genre you listed (especially electronic and hardcore). All I did was point out the overwhelming bias on here. Because, regardless of whether or not I also listen to it, its still hilarious to see HS metalheads as music elitists.
Almost as bad as indie kids and hipsters. I dont see much in hip-hop/rap though.
I wanted to see how you liked it when I said you listened to shitty electronic.
|
| |
Lol
|
| |
RS you really cant see how you do nothing but make sweeping generalizations and judge everybody else for doing the same shit you do right? You CAN see that right?
Again you just seem to be taking sputnik way too serious so smoke a blunt and relax its nice outside.
|
| |
Some dude actually gave an honest review of a Justin Bieber album, which is like telling a two year old they are dumb.
If youre honestly expecting anything great from Justin Bieber, thats your mistake.
Even people who bitch about his music. No fucking shit. Its geared towards 10 year old girls. What do you expect from it?
|
| |
"I do listen to some of every genre you listed. All I did was point out the overwhelming bias on here."
Flashbaaaack:
"In the case of metal and hardcore, which this site has an obvious bias towards (whether good or bad), I think its fucking awful."
-Foo fighters hiatus article
So you listen to it but think it's fucking awful and spent half the time on the site saying how much they suck.
Got it.
|
| |
@RS085 Look dude, everyone is here for different reasons. No one cares about what decade in music you lived in, or how old you are, and sitting there complaining in a random thread about how you think everybody is an elitist because they have personal preferences isn't changing anyone's perspective. Of course the majority of people on this site are younger, because it's much more common for youthful people to be more interested and intrigued with keeping current with music, discovering new music, and talking about music in general than older folks are. This is the how the world, and the internet especially, works. No site is going to be without a few ignorant people here and there, and while I agree that a lot more senseless bashing goes on than intelligent debates, you can either learn to tolerate it and pick the good people out from the bad, or just leave the site if you can't stand it that much.
|
| |
I stand by that entirely.
I listen to very few "metal" and "hardcore" bands (mostly older stuff like Slayer and Scream/Minor Threat), however, I think on the whole, theyre pretty awful genres. Especially contemporary stuff. Which this site is completely geared towards.
Theres a major difference here. I dont go out of my way to say I dont like it. When a metal or hardcore asshole is baiting me, then ill say it.
If youre going to bother going through my comment history, you might as well go through the other posts where I have commented on a number of other bands.
|
| |
Alright now you just really seem to be a little slow above the neck
|
| |
Right.
Its not possible at all to like something even though you dont care for most of the genre.
I dont identify with either genre. I do listen to some bands from both, but on the whole, I can definitely do without it. Some stuff like Megadeth, I think is awful, but I dont come on and go out of my way to tell someone that. If youre a Megadeth fan and bait me, then I will.
|
| |
"Theres a major difference here. I dont go out of my way to say I dont like it. When a metal or hardcore asshole is baiting me, then ill say it."
That's funny, because no one ever baits you to start anything.
You just come here and randomly start ranting about those genres and the site's bias.
|
| |
Dude, I didnt register to bitch. I registered like 5 years ago and I actually used this frequently back then. Id say only the last 50 comments or so have been spent on this waste of time.
Ive done band edits and news articles.
|
| |
haven't listened but Uno was insultingly bad... band is really really shit
|
| |
"Some dude actually gave an honest review of a Justin Bieber album, which is like telling a two year old they are dumb"
RS085 shut the hell up you hypocrite. You hate elitists yet you yourself are one. Anyone can give an honest review for any album. I have read every one of your posts in this thread, and so far you are making yourself out to be a very spoiled and ignorant 15 year old that thinks he knows everything.
And you other guys aren't doing so great either. This is pretty much an elitist dick fest.
|
| |
"Dude, I didnt register to bitch. I registered like 5 years ago and I actually used this frequently back then. Id say only the last 50 comments or so have been spent on this waste of time.
Ive done band edits and news articles"
Who gives a fuck when you signed.
The point is you do bitch and rant now. I don't give a fuck what you did before.
|
| |
Jesus christ will you just shut the fuck up and let this die?
Im done.
|
| |
rs has a point about all the bashing that goes on, but youre all being fuckheads over it
|
| |
Is that supposed to be a surprise?
|
| |
Slow clap for RS's dedication to the art of trolling. 8.5/10.
|
| |
