Black Sabbath new record

2012-06-05 by Voivod STAFF | 40 Comments
Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler talked to the NME about the new Black Sabbath album.

Ozzy stated that the band has 15 songs ready, however it is uncertain at this point if all of them will be included in the new record. On the other hand, Geezer Butler gave kudos to producer Rick Rubin for giving the band the proper drive to conclude composing the new material. According to Butler, Rubin told them the following:

Imagine we are in 1969 and you just released Black Sabbath. Where would you go from here?

Unfortunately, the album will not be recorded with the classic lineup, as Bill Ward has declined his participation. Drumming duties will be undertaken by Tommy Clufetos (Ozzy Osbourne)

It will definitely be better than Forbidden. That much is certain. Nobody even remembers the singer they had for that album.

75% of same members under the same name.

Yeah it is a Black Sabbath record.

That doesn't mean it will be good.

Just that IT IS Black Sabbath.

So yeah.

Suck it.

Bitches

hopefully it wont be too bad. i would say "what's the point?" but i suppose a band like sabbath can't finish with forbidden so maybe this is a good thing.

"Dehumanizer was good"

It was alright. If it wasn't for Dio, it would be unbearably boring

Yeah I liked Dehumanizer as well. Dio an Iommi both made it so imo

Whether it has all the members or not, it's still going to be bad I think.

Fuck Tommy Clufetos! His drumming style does NOT FIT with the band. It's too robotic and not jazzy enough like Ward.

Why does Rubin always do this? Same technique with Metallica.

I loved Dehumanizer. Record will be ok at the very least. The Devil You Know was pretty well-received, so I find it hard to believe that Tony and Geezer would spontaneously love their abilities to write riffs after like three years.

Some of the Sabbath records like Tyr, Seventh Star and The Eternal Idol are terrible. So terrible in fact that I don't think they should even be classified as such. New one will probably be shit as well but hey.

Seventh Star was meant to be an Iommi solo record iirc but record label pressure made him release it as a Sabbath record. Nobody counts it as a Sabbath record although it is officially, in name only. Also you forgot Forbidden, but that is just... the less said the better.
