sum 41 album

Sum 41's Derek Whibley has revealed he's written 20 songs for the follow-up to 2004's "Chuck".

The self produced effort was recorded in Los Angeles Ocean Way studio, according to NME.com.

Speaking about the CD, Whibley said: "We can't wait for fans to hear this album. And we can't wait to get out on the road and prove ourselves to people."

The three-piece now consists of Whibley on guitar and vocals, Cone McCaslin on bass and Steve Jocz on drums. It marks the first time the band have made a record without founding member, guitarist Dave Baksh.

Whibley told MTV News: "The whole thing with Dave happened so, yeah, I know there is a lot of baggage attached to this album. But I'd like to think that we all learned a lot from what's happened. We realized that we needed to be a band again. Because ever since 'All Killer, No Filler' (from 2001), we honestly weren't a band. We were a machine."

A release date for the as yet untitled album has to be confirmed.

Sounds alright, I might check this out.

I don't really pay too much attention to Sum 41. So can someone inform me about the whole Dave Baksh deal.

I look forward to hear the result. I do't own anything by them but I like them and actually don't mind their newer stuff.

I bet this album is gonna be softer than "Chuck" since Dave Baksh was the metalhead among them and now that he's gone I won't be surprised if they join the legions of sell-out Pop-Punk bands like Fall Out Boy,etc.

I hate these guys so much. Doubt I'll even give their new album a listen

Apparently Deryck wrote all the guitar parts since All Killer No Filler so Dave leaving shouldn't have too much effect on their new album. Can't Wait For This!

I can't wait. Patrick is dumb. Oh, and Jason, Dave never wrote anything for Sum 41 so he had no influence. Therefore, his departure won't affect the sound of Sum 41.

This should be good. Definitely less metal now that Dave is gone. It will be nice to have the old All Killer No Filler Sum 41 back.

I actually like Chuck quite a bit, for whatever reason, but everything else blows so eh.

I liked Chuck when it first came out and I think it's decent now. I'm probably not getting this though.
