Slayer recruit Pat O'Brien 2011-03-30 by Trey STAFF | 30 Comments | Cannibal Corpse's Pat O'brien has been confirmed as the replacement for Gary Holt (Exodus) for the duration of Slayer's European tour.
Pat O'brien will join Slayer for the April 6 show in Croatia, and will finish the European dates with Slayer that wrap up on April 14 in Holland. Gary Holt will leave the Slayer European tour to play with Exodus at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago, Chile on April 4. Holt has been filling in for Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman since the tour kicked off February 26 in Australia.

Sort of a shame, cause Gary Holt was awesome when I saw them last month. He added a new, sort of younger dimension to the band as a live entity. Not to mention his solos were kickass.

What is with all of the people on here that hate on bands just because they aren't in their prime anymore. Most of these guys have have earned their legendary status and if they can still pick up their instruments with their arthritic hands then people will want to see them. This. And when you say 'in their prime', they may not be writing music as good as what gave them legend status in the first place, but they probably still rock a live show full of classic material just as hard as they ever did...
