Read the message. He said the original agreement was for him to stop playing with them at the end of 2010, so that's what he's doing. Despite how much I like A7X, Portnoy is way out of their league, if he had stayed he would be limiting his options for next year. I gaurantee he'll be doing something much more productive within the next 12 months.

Haha fast exit, I guess he realized he's substantially more talented than anyone else in the band. I really hope he keeps rolling though, he's a great drummer.

Anyway, he's clearly going to take a year or two out then recoup with Dream Theater and they will then write and release their last good album.

I think most of you, just never seen him in a live show, because FFS playing constant motion not sitting on his drum stool is kind of amazing. Doing a 10 minutes solo because some problems happened with the sound and the solo sounded as amazing as Neil Peart's(I've seen Rush so many times).

Sure today, there is a lot of other good drummers, but I would like to see someone with a stage presence like him and playing stuff as technical as him.
