I'm glad I got to see them at the the Metal Masters tour, but this is very saddening, they've been my favorite band since high school and I was really looking forward to at least one more studio album. And it's a shame because they kept getting better with each show.

But I've enjoyed their material and they've done the genre well.

scottyvee you are a fool if you honestly believe Judas Priest are not hanging it up. Judas Priest are not KISS or Ozzy Osbourne when it comes to farewell tours.

Nostradamus did suck. Sad they are quitting because they are cool live, but no more studio albums = no big loss.

Yeah Ozzy Osbourne was doing one of those fake farewell tours in the 1990's. That was one of the reasons Ronnie James Dio didn't play with Tony, Geezer, and Vinnie for that show Ozzy Osbourne was on. Rob Halford called Dio and asked if it was all right if he sung with Black Sabbath.

1. It was a "False" Farewell Tour
2. He believed Black Sabbath is too legendary to be opening for anyone.

Upon careful thought I have deduced that perhaps it is for the best, I mean the last thing I want to see is the legendary Priest become like the Stones...

Also much as I'm loathe to admit it, Halford have been putting out better albums than Priest recently, so hopefully Rob will continue at least. Perhaps a few sporadic reunion shows here and there over the next decade will come to pass. I'm cracking open a cold one in toast to one of the few bands to truly embody what it means to be 'metal'.

A part of me just died, seriously. Although I can really only call 3 or 4 of their albums 'exceptional', there still one of my favorite bands. I'm almost tempted to sell all of my things, and fly out to Europe to see them.

Metal definitley isn't my faourite genre, but Judas Priest are easily my favourite Metal band
This is so so sad.

I hope they tour Australia because they said they would be back when they were here last tour.

Is one last album in the vein of Sad Wings/Painkiller/Angel of Retribution?

These guys are in their sixties, no one should be sad. It is like bawling your eyes out because somebody in your family died at 90. They have had a full-healthy career, celebrate the good times and rock Painkiller.

That's sad to hear. I was never a fan, but I still find it sad to see a band like them quit.

It's most likely for the best, though. I'm sure it would be tough to keep going at that age. I'm actually impressed that they went this long
