Will be interesting to see what the Chili's come up with. Klinghoffer is good technically, but Frusciante was the heart and soul of the Chili's. I have a feeling his solo efforts will continue to be better than the Chili's records without him.
|
| |
HEYYYY OHHHH
|
| |
gonna be awful
|
| |
will be different, not awful
|
| |
Cool. I'll be looking forward to this, even though Frusciante was a huge part of the band.
|
| |
no frusciante no love
|
| |
ya all of their terrible albums were without john so not looking forward to this
|
| |
not going to be good. the only guitarists they should work with are fruiscante and Slovak
|
| |
I'm interested at the very least. I really liked Stadium Arcadium too.
|
| |
I'm definitely looking forward to this.
|
| |
Enotron grow a pair
Going to rule regardless of anything. One of the only 80's/90's bands that weren't afraid to experiment with their sound and the result always excited me. Band knows how to stay relevant and legendary at the same time.
|
| |
if by experiment you mean make the same album over and over again then okay
also, stadium arcadium was fucking terrible and frusciante had almost full creative control on that so i don't see why people think this will be extra bad just because he isn't in the band anymore
|
| |
yeah but what really killed Stadium Arcadium more than anything was Kiedis' vocals/lyrics
|
| |
Enotron grow a pair
ahh because post-pubescent men get upset over people's music tastes
|
| |
yeah but what really killed Stadium Arcadium more than anything was Kiedis' vocals/lyrics
kiedis was really awesome back when he would rap, but i can't stand his vox californication and on
|
| |
I don't know that I would ever say he was really awesome, but he used to add an element of fun energy with enough sentimentality to temper the sillier stuff.
I don't mind him so much on Californication, and I actually think his singing and lyrics on By the Way were pretty damn good, but there are wayyyy too many classic Kiedis cringe-moments on Stadium to me.
|
| |
ahh because post-pubescent men get upset over people's music tastes
Nah, just fanboys of said music. Nothing personal although I did reference your sugarlumps
|
| |
idk i just love the funk-punk sound they have on freaky styley and uplift mofo party plan. the music is great on al their later records, but kiedis is just not meant to sing(at least not in the fashion he does on those records)
|
| |
idk i just love the funk-punk sound they have on freaky styley and uplift mofo party plan.
most def
|
| |
Which is depressing because he's the worst part of them live. It's like fantastic/fantastic/fantastic/nawww
They just work for me with everything, somehow. Songs like "Skinny Sweaty Man" turn me on just as much as "Hard to Concentrate".
|
| |
i love pretty much everything the chilis put out with frusc. the others without him, not so much... frusc is the heart and soul. im a little scared...
|
| |
Very intrigued to hear some new stuff. RHCP was one of my favorite bands growing up but I've lost interest especially with Frusciante's solo stuff catching my eye.
|
| |
Eh. I still go to RHCP to get my modern pop rock fix in. The glory days are behind them but they could still craft a hell of a pop song.
|
| |
SA was good. I really hope this is no exception.
|
| |
i'd argue the Frusciante WAS the heart of the band. but after the same-old same-old guitar work on Stadium Arcadium, it sounded like he was bored and ready to move on (or back to his awesome solo work).
because of this, i'm in definite support of a new guitarist, and i'm interested to see how he turns out. and Flea better get his ass back to slappin da bass
|
| |
Jesus. RHCP guitarists have become the James Bonds of the music world.
|
| |
"if by experiment you mean make the same album over and over again then okay"
Because Freaky Styley, One Hot Minute and Stadium Arcadium all sound EXACTLY the same! Dude do your homework before making comments like that.
John Frusciante is like a God to me, hopefully he gets a new album out soon, but I'm definitley looking foward to this release. If anyone can replace John, It's Josh.
|
| |
WhiteNoise could be my alt
and porch is wrong like always
|
| |
maybe he was referring to their last 3 albums
|
| |
John Frusciante is like a God to me
which is why you are unable to see that they have been rehashing the same old formula for over a decade
|
| |
Honestly porch your argument has so many holes in it, I can't even begin to start to prove you wrong.
You'd like it if you weren't such a spiteful penis and you know it
|
| |
your desktop background is probably a giant picture of frusciante wearing a sock on his dick
|
| |
your desktop picture is probably thurston moore pouting with thick glasses on filling the hole where
his dick should be with noise
|
| |
lmao
|
| |
no its this

|
| |
hey look its your mother
|
| |
Holy shit when did they lose the guitarist?
|
| |
This will be worth checking out but honestly, Frusciante was what made that band great. Case in Point: One Hot Minute.
|
| |
I thought Stadium Arcadium was amazing so I'm really looking forward to this.
|
| |
That's a nice looking bass.
Not the biggest fan of these guys, but interested to hear how the new guitarist affects their sound.
|
| |
I'm pretty excited for the new release, and yeah I really liked Stadium Arcadium. Don't know why it received so much hate
|
| |
in like an objective sense this band sucks, right, but there's way too much nostalgia here for middle school and "by the way" for me not to listen to this
|
| |
I'm pretty excited for the new release, and yeah I really liked Stadium Arcadium. Don't know why it received so much hate
I second this.
|
| |
i hope this doesn't suck
|
| |
"which is why you are unable to see that they have been rehashing the same old formula for over a decade"
Go listen to 'Get On Top, Purple Stain, I like Dirt' from Californication. Then go listen to 'Cabron', 'Venice Queen' and 'Minor Thing from By The Way and then listen to 'Charlie', 'Torture Me' and Wet Sand from Stadium Arcadium.
Just do it.
|
| |
"I'm just projecting and guessing, but I would say we'd like to try to deliver the album in March. We're definitely hoping to have it out by next summer. It's been a long time in coming." - Will Ferrell, drummer
Fixed.
|
| |
Oh shit!
|
| |
Yeah Chad was fantastic in Elf, I just watched it
|
| |
I hear the next RHCP album is going to be very "Old School".
|
| |
stadium arcadium was really good. basically 99% of what they've done has been really good. this will be really good.
|
| |
Eh, I'm not a fan of their more funk Hillel era stuff.
|
| |
replacing Frusciante again? Don't they remember what happened last time?
|
| |
@JDub: Not being a dick but are you talking about their s/t?
|
| |
I actually like One Hot Minute North, and they're not replacing him, he chose to leave the band to continue his solo career citing musical differences.
|
| |
better be good god damn it.
|
| |
He left, and someone takes his place. That's called replacing, regardless of why he left.
|
| |
Well, the way you made your last statement
replacing Frusciante again? Don't they remember what happened last time?
sounded like you thought they chose to kick him out of the band. Since he left, they kinda have to
find a replacement to keep the band together.
|
| |
I know, and they did that before. He didn't get kicked out last time either.
|
| |
Of course they are going to replace him
I doubt they would work as well as a trio
Flea's still there, I'm happy
|
| |
band is farts
|
| |
Tbh I can't see why they would choose to go on without him. Its like if Aaron Weiss left MWY and they went "pff we're good without him too!"
|
| |
Tbh I can't see why they would choose to go on without him
Puddles goes soft:
They went on after their best friend died and the blood was forced onto Kiedis' hands. They went on after withdrawal after withdrawal, rehab after rehab, snotty guitarist after snotty guitarist. They aren't strangers with disappointment in the least.
You have to understand what a band means to each member. You have to read Anthony Kiedis' book, you know? It's more about playing the shows and spreading the love and energy. It's the power ver the fans they know they have, as each band should. It's what makes the band powerful, to me anyway, and apparently to a billion others. They've gone through hell and back more than fucking once with just as much love for music and pure energy as they did to begin with. In my book, their spirit is unmatched. They're just beautiful people, every one of them.
Music, they did it right. Along with a great number of bands, don't get me wrong, I just feel closer to Peppers.
So now solidfying my position as a diehard fanboy, this is my last post in the thread.
|
| |
Puddles wins deep comment of the year
|
| |
Haha yes I have read the book and I know they're close and stuff. They suck now though and its time to move on.
|
| |
lame
|
| |
wonder how they gonna do without frusciante
|
| |
I'm definately curious, but Frusciante was a great guitarist and a great fit for the band. I'll check it out but not expecting anything amazing.
|
| |
They haven't been interesting since 'One Hot Minute', and they don't even count that as part of their discography. Frusciante dragged this band down, in my opinion. They were better with Hillel.
|
| |
I honestly enjoyed everything the Chili's have done. They may have started using a simplistic sound, but it worked for them.
