Haven't heard of these guys since '06
| |
New singer is better.
| |
I don't think he can pull off the old songs well though singing wise. But pretty good song, could of did without the generic breakdown though.
| |
Came across nocturne in my car the other day. I almost put it in, until I remembered that I can't stand the vocals.
| |
Jake i love your avatar. I am soo watching some old school power rangers later tonight lol
| |
Her helmet. lol
| |
twas an okay song
| |
Can't say that I like the clean vocals overly much, yet the screams/growls have yet to strike a chord either.
| |
pretty good
| |
Change of band picture please
| |
not great, but much better than midheaven at least
| |
I liked it, could have ditched the breakdown or at least built up to it better
| |
I liked it, pwns anything on Midheaven
| |
parts of this were interesting, but it could've been better.
| |
Very disappointed...I had to wait at least 35 seconds for the first sweep. Song was okay.
| |
pretty cool, the breakdown sucked, but not bad overall
| |
Very disappointed
| |
this sucks
im not surprised at all
| |
they don't sound as unique as they did on nocturne imo
| |
horrible sound quality but other than that this song is promising...the new album should be good
| |
Band is bad.
| |
i couldnt listen after 30 seconds
it's like btbam except shitty
and with really shitty vocals, too
| |
ire with another insightful comment
| |
fuckin' amazing!
| |
ire with another insightful comment
awe
| |
pretty decent. I'll probably listen to Digital Veil when it comes out.
| |
the more i listen to this the less and less i'm liking it.
while i do think it has moments of brilliance, it's very poorly structured. i'm having a hard time remembering what section follows what. i can follow between the buried and me better than this and they aren't exactly known for well-structured material
| |
so boring.
| |

thisthisthis
| |
Kind of aimless and filled with BTBAM guitar wankery, but still has it's moments. Better than their last album, at least.
| |
I wish it sounded remotely as good as BTBAM
| |
lol ire
songs pree cool.
| |
What are you guys smoking, this was great
| |
Song is about a 2.5/5.
| |
Liked it but riffage wasn't as interesting as in the studio update thing. Cleans weren't great but harshes were decent.
| |
The song tripped over at the breakdown, but they're heading back in the direction of Noctourne which I'm really really really glad about.
| |
I really like this guys voice... song was pretty good. I hated the vocals in the last two albums greatly.
| |
I have no clue why I always see people comparing these guys to BTBAM. Yes we know both bands like to get cozy with some sweep picking once in a while, but I hardly see similarities beyond that.
| |
To me it sounds like something off Nocturne but with infinitely superior vocals, which sounds NOTHING like Between the Buried and Me. The chorus is reminiscent of Vela, Together We Await The Storm's chorus. Also, YOU GOTTA GET ME OFF!!!!
| |
lol, sounds like BTBAM because of sweeps? These two are hardly alike, but this is still pretty good. Vocals are way better than the last two but Nocturne might have better song writing.
| |
I don't know what to think about the song. I guess it isn't bad, but there's something about The Human Abstract that bores me
| |
o
| |
eh they have 3 guitarists now?
some of the clean vocals remind me of The Oceans newer material.
at least this dudes not hyping his parts as the deepest shit ever
| |
A couple things really turn me off about this;
1. The YouTube quality is pretty mediocre. I'm thinking 96-128kbps tops. It's not very impressive. Don't these guys have their own website or anything?
2. As mentioned, it's a very poorly structured song. It's like a nightmare of sweeps and riffs colliding into each other. It's not a bad song, but it's a fucking mess.
3. The vocals. The screams are definitely deeper which is interesting, but I feel like he has a lot of help from Auto-Tune on the clean vocals. They all sound very fake and doctored to me. I've come to accept that a lot of Metal bands with Clean Vocals do this, but some obviously more so than others.
All-in-all I'm excited for a new album, but hope this is one of the lesser songs off of it because this track was like a 2.5/5 at best, and THA always manager to put their BEST song out first. The first song from Midheaven we heard was A Violent Strike which at the time was like a 4/5, but when you compare it to the rest of the content of that album it was like an >9000/5. So if this song is a lot better than the rest of the album as A Violent Strike was, I shudder to think...
| |
Its a bit bland..
| |
thought it was decent.
| |
man. i never thought i would say this, but i miss nathan ells. i just can't get into these vox at all. they are so fucking generic. other than that the song is pretty good, but a little messy.
| |
'It's not a bad song, but it's a fucking mess.'
come again?
| |

come again?
Typical snobbery, pretentious bitching about song structure.
| |
y u cant get teh song u not smrt nuff?
| |
this rules.
| |
Far away from Nocturne
It sounds very chaotic
| |
fuckin' amazing!
| |
Different but still very enjoyable
| |
Not too bad, but i was kind of expecting more. Song structure has never really been a major part of anything THA has written to this point, so i wasn't bothered by it.
On a positive note, Travis Richter is a fantastic vocalist. It's hard to imagine they started with someone like Nathan Ells.
| |
The problem is the song structure, the breakdown was just thrown in the mix. I do not think that Travis is that good of a singer(soo many layers in his singing). The screaming is very good and there is alot of great moments. But its better than anything off of Midheaven so thats a start. Nathan is still a waaaaay better singer though, Nathan fit more.
| |
Come on, guys. The structure? It's verse-chorus-verse-breakdown-chorus-bridge-chorus...which is pretty damned simple. And the quality of the Youtube video is poor, sure, but the production is fantastic. I bought the MP3 off Amazon for 99 cents and can tell you that the song sounds amazing coming out of my stereo speakers. And there was some idiot complaining about autotune on the Youtube comment thread as well. Listen to Kanye West--that's autotune, you moron.
| |
I don't know how I feel about this. Initially, I'm a fan. The cleans are a bit of a turn-off though.
| |
Paxman you must not know what makes this song structure bad if you think it is good. Or do you know what Strong structure is?? Anyone can hear the song structure is aimless and chaotic, and not the chaotic that flows either.
| |
I admit it wanders a bit after the second chorus and the softer portion near the end is unnecessary (or could have been better without the backing vocals), but my comment was regarding the users claiming they couldn't remember which part follows which.
| |
the end singing on chugs sounds like miss may i. i wasn't really a fan of this.
| |
@ Paxman, oh okay i understand now. Well its better than most of Midheaven so i am still stoked, i just hope to hear the singer without all the backing layered vocals. Nathan never used any and i still believe he is a better singer that travis, at least on Nocturne.
| |
"Come on, guys. The structure? It's verse-chorus-verse-breakdown-chorus-bridge-chorus...which is pretty damned simple."
A - B - C - D - B - E - C - F - G - H - I - J - C - K
Each letter = new section
that's a pretty crazy structure dude, unless you call every single different part in between the second and third chorus just a "bridge".
| |
tbh a different sounding part does not always mean its a new thing. different verse riffs are still verse riffs.
it's complex but its not TOO bad.
the clean singing kind of reminds me of a better jerry roush.
| |
Some of the transitions from section to section are bad.
And I don't like the chorus at all.
| |
"tbh a different sounding part does not always mean its a new thing. different verse riffs are still verse riffs"
well it could still be a verse riff but it doesn't change the fact that they're different and that makes it hard to follow as there are very few repeating sections
| |
The song is good, and the band sounds alot better than they did on Midheaven.
Cant we just be happy?
| |
I'll cunt your butthole.
| |
Pretty fantastic song
| |
yeah paxman i figured it sound sick coming through some good speakers
| |
Yeah.
| |
I'll cunt your butthole.
Fucking awesome.
| |
heard this a few times, don't really understand why it is taking so much heat.
| |
All I really want them to do is improve upon their Nocturne sound but it seems like they're switching it up.
| |
This is awesome. Probably in part because I loved the shit out of Nocturne and still do. Midheaven was shit. I really like the main riff.
| |
lol
the human abstract are lols
| |
shitty band
| |
wintersun album at 2
k
| |
Its growing on me a bit, but Im still gonna miss the Nocturne sound a lot
| |
bringonthebreakdown you gave three dream theater albums a 5/5 you are in no position to make fun of anybody at all.
| |
Jesus 3 guitar players? Who are they Studioforce?
| |
