she's starting to come off to me more and more as an attention-mongerer--which everyone who likes her and probably even she herself are well aware of. but it just annoys me. she also seems desperately to want to hold up her 'world' image. this was really apparent on kala with the silly 'world music' flourishes (which totally worked in her favor for critics JEEZ THEY ARE SO SHORT SIGHTED). she seems to exploit the image everyone has of her ('omg! she's from sri lanka!' (or wherever it is)) to the max. but whatever

I listened to Paper Planes. I was waiting for something that at least tried to be decent (not high hopes exactly, but nothing too pessimistic either) but it sucked. It really did. So did these previews. Besides from being a nutcase, does she have any other merits? In the field of music, for example? I guess the artsy fartsy album cover makes you all go crazy about her music or something.
