New Poison Retrospective 2006-01-30 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 3 Comments | In celebration of the twenty years since the band's inception, '80s rockers Poison will release an 18-track hits compilation entitled 'Poison: 20 Years Of Rock.' With a release date of April 4 and an accompanying tour the following month, 2006 will be a busy year for the Bret Michaels-fronted band.
The album will replace the existing hits collection, 'Poison Greatest Hits 1986-1996' and includes one hitherto unreleased track, a cover of Grand Funk Railroad's 'We're An American Band,' produced by Don Was, who's worked with the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan in recent years.
With 25 million record sales to their name, Poison remain one of the decade's most consistently successful hard rock bands, a feat bettered only by Bon Jovi, Motley Crue and the never prolific Guns N' Roses. The band enjoys a particularly large following among country fans in the American south, and Michaels himself has a substantial solo following aswell.
