R.I.P. Jack Rose 2009-12-06 by joshuatree EMERITUS | 20 Comments | Guitarist Jack Rose, well known for his solo albums such as the acclaimed Kensington Blues, his participation in the noise band Pelt, and being featured on Devendra Banhart's compilation Golden Apples in the Sun, has died of an apparent heart attack. He was 38.
Rose was a main player in the revivalist movement of American Primitivism, along with Sir Richard Bishop and James Blackshaw. Heavily influenced by John Fahey and Robbie Basho, Rose showed his mastery at traditional folk music with Kensington Blues and at Eastern classicism with Raag Manifestos. He was set to release his tenth solo album on February 23, 2010.
