CHVRCHES New Single 2026-09-23 by John Marinakis CONTRIBUTOR | 15 Comments | CHVRCHES have released their new single, Roses, through Futures Music Group, accompanied by an official lyric video.
Premiered as BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record, the song takes the Scottish trio toward a darker, guitar-driven sound, with lyrics addressing Britain's political and social climate.
Lauren Mayberry explained that the longest gap between albums in the band's career encouraged them to challenge their established approach. She described the resulting material as their most unified creative vision to date.
Their latest studio album remains 2021's Screen Violence. During the intervening years, Mayberry released her solo debut, Vicious Creature, while bandmate Martin Doherty launched his project The Leaving.
CHVRCHES have also announced intimate performances in Glasgow on October 26 and London on October 29, with proceeds going to charity. The venues have not yet been disclosed, and fans can register for an opportunity to purchase tickets.

still need to check her solo
this was very cool
| | | hmmm not sure about this one. glad they are back tho
| | | It’s alright I guess
| | | Not sure about the chorus but glad they kept the darker tones from Screen Violence
| | | I loved Screen Violence but honestly this is kinda weak. Boring chorus, low energy and dislike the spoken word/rapped sections
| | | i like the chorus in concept, like im glad they did the gang thing. is it my favorite chorus? no! but i respect it! and really just liking the vibes overall, the rap isn't objectively good but im cool with it. excited for more
| | | Upon first listen, I'm disappointed. Hoping this will be one of the weaker tracks. It's not bad, it's just nothing Screen Violence didn't already do better.
| | | I hope this gets better with time...
| | | I actually quite like this! The verses are such a The Cure homage. Not the best chorus but I don't mind it!
| | | Not really feeling this at all
| | | Futures started a label, nice
| | | man is this chorus boring as fuck. and the rap attempt on the bridge is embarrassingly cringe. the verses are decent and interesting enough
C+ song
| | | Stiff upper lip
Shooting from the hip
Running like a rat afraid of sinking with the ship
Are you being fed?
Are you ready yet?
Doesn't fucking matter
On your marks, get set
Garbage bag, rats eat pizza slices
Garbage can (Garbage can), rats, they understand
| | | Have yet to listen to this new track, but this thread is what informed me that a solo album exists and I am digging the first couple tracks off that.
Screen Violence was incredible, so hoping that despite the poor reception for this albums first single, hoping chvrches can pull it off again.
| | | In fairness, He Said She Said wasn't the strongest first single either and Screen Violence turned out to be good, so here's hoping.
That said, this is worse.
