Here we go again.
|
| |
Didn't Nightwish go on a hiatus? I didn't think they would do another album
Not that I enjoyed the last two albums tbh. Let's hope Tuomas finds his creatice juices again
|
| |
Thank god, now we can have an album of just Troy on vocals!
|
| |
Damn. Their best era over
|
| |
Oh for fuck sake, didn't even get a proper classic with her as Tuomas has been just writing on autopilot.
|
| |
tarja reunion! her solo stuff sucks balls anyway
|
| |
I think Nightwish was holding her back tbh. It's great that she got to tour with such a huge band and that she has wider recognition as a result, but she was basically just there to keep the lights on.
|
| |
Yeah, safe to say this band is done
|
| |
Hopefully Tarja returns. Love her
"Yeah, safe to say this band is done"
People are quick to say that but Linkin Park's comeback proves there's still a massive audience for them. Just look at Alice in Chains too. They've released solid albums since Layne's tragic passing and prove that a band can continue making great music even after losing their iconic singer.
|
| |
lmao very different situations there buddy

i think it's more about the fact that every successive singer after tarja has offered diminishing returns artistically. the floor (ha ha) is so low for nightwish now. they lack, or at least have never shown, the ability for reinvention - tuomas just writes the same song using the same tricks over and over again. say what you want about linkin park but they covered a lot of ground, nightwish hasn't.
i think the only way this will work is if it's someone entirely unknown in the metal scene - otherwise it'll just sound like an existing band covering nightwish tunes.
|
| |
Band was literally just on the cover of Metal Hammer with Floor.
|
| |
Damn this sucks. Yesterwynde was great but I feel this collaboration never achieved its full potential.
Curious to see what's next, hopefully not the band splitting up for good.
|
| |
yeah i also agree that they never reached their potential... it feels like tuomas never wrote songs that really showed off her ability.
|
| |
"Big news for our grandparents" says my gen Z coworker lol
|
| |
Floor has a been a great live singer with them but the albums with her weren't as good. I'd love them.to do a last album with Tarja and close the cycle, but I doubt it happens.
|
| |
in retrospect i can't help but feel the band were arguing about whether the orchestra or floor should take prominence and they always made the wrong choice of the orchestra
|
| |
Albums with Floor were better than tarja - easily. Once is brilliant but before that were lame
|
| |
c'mon wishmaster, century child and oceanborn are great records
|
| |
Muzz I normally agree with you brother, but I can't on this one XD
|
| |
That has to be one of the worst takes on this site Muzz
|
| |
Oceanborn is their best album lol, what the hell
|
| |
DPP and Imaginaerum are hardly "dimishing returns artistically". I agree with the Floor albums though. EFMB showed potential, but half the tracks were quite uninspired, while the other half banged pretty hard. Everything after that left me cold. I can't believe Tuomas used the riff is Storytime three times now
|
| |
The kind of news that leaves a holopain in your chest
|
| |
>>DPP and Imaginaerum are hardly "dimishing returns artistically".
i'm not sure - both those albums had moments, sure, but they also had their really dull moments where they seemed to be using the big orchestra as a crutch for lack of concise and compelling ideas. i have no desire to return to half the songs of either of those albums.
in fact i actually preferred EFMB to either of those records, but human nature was bad because of some truly god awful ideas (harvest might be their worst song) and yesterwynde was just as bad in a similar way to DPP in that it was bloated and lacked focus.
and now they've lost the only vocalist i can think of that was able to reconcile both distinct eras of nightwish - i just can't see a way forward. that said, i might make a wild bet and wager tarja may actually make a return.
|
| |
Dewi ik you dig earlier nightwish, I came in at once and was on board right away but could nvr get into the tarja albums prior
|
| |
They need to go power metal again. Riffs, solos, hammy synths.
|
| |
Ain't gonna be the case. They settled for post-Black album Metallica with vanilla orchestral soundtracks and decided that life is good. Endless Forms Most Beautiful still sounds like a hamster preparing to go to war. Also they recycled and simplified a single drum beat for the past 10 years or so.
|
| |
Tara returning would be so wild if it happened but idk if it would save this band. Its not even Floor's fault, she's terrific. Theyve just been spinning their wheels ever since Imaginarium.
Also bad take on the early albums being lame. I know century child can be divisive but ocean born and wish master are legit.
|
| |

More Strato worship? Naaa think I'll pass. Don't get me wrong Oceanborn and Century Child are some of my favorites but I preffer that Tuomas keeps on exploring new things, even if sometimes they don't turn out that good (Human || Nature).

condolences to whichever woman is unfortunate enough to be brainwashed into the cult next
|
| |
bring back Anette
|
| |
They're obviously on the hunt for some fresh young blood to suck dry and toss aside once there's nothing left to milk...
