really dug this, instrumentation on this is fantastic
Hoping for a return to ‘form’… a man can dream
Digging: Aurora - The Gods We Can Touch
this song goes very hard
Digging: Pensees Nocturnes - Douce Fange
This is awesome.
Very nice, didn't expect that breakdown.
Digging: Mol - Diorama
Can't believe I'm saying this but I think I've outgrown this band. Song is good but nowhere near as good as it could and should be.
I highly doubt this band will ever reach the heights of Core ever again
This track is so underwhelming, is it good on paper yes but is it good in comparison to what this band has previously shown they can do ? Nope. I think DVNE has taken the place this band held for me
This is literally budget Jason Richardson + clean vocals
Ooh I should check that band Ectier. Are they really that similar though? I don't see any melodeath tag
Losers are gonna make a 4.5 instead of a 5 album. Think I'm done with these absolute jokers smh
DVNE is awesome but not really comparable in style to Persefone. They sound more like sci-fi Mastodon.
They arent super similar but I think i prefer DVNE to these guys now. Persefone is a good band but i think im sort of done with them. This track feels like an Aathma b side to a degree.
And for melodeath be'lakor
I can accept everyone is wrong and that's OK
But yea different strokes for different folks
Be'lakor getting hardcore snubbed on lists this year tbh
And yeah I'll always love anything these guys do. Shame to see people "moving on" or whatnot, but it is what it is. I'll enjoy the album, probably, and I'll run about in my room in my Persefone shirt yelling lyrics until the apartment complex kicks me out.
When they shine Persefone are sooooo damn good but maybe its just the time between releases for me. May change my mind when the full record drops. And yea now that you mention it Be'lakor was strangely absent
"Be'lakor getting hardcore snubbed on lists this year tbh"
not on mine, wait for it fren
They've always been pretty open about their ~4 year recording process. Some artists/bands need that time to really put their vision together I suppose, but in such a fadt-paced and massive market, I can see how they lose interest if some fans. For me, I think it just makes the eventual album reveal all the more exciting.
"not on mine, wait for it fren"
The track Prison Skin alone is by far better than these first two singles, like, it blows them out of the water.
'They arent super similar but I think i prefer DVNE to these guys now.'
to clarify they aren't even the slightest bit similar, just in case Kusangii is still wondering
I won't write these guys off, but yeah Core was a masterpiece and it's been diminishing returns ever since. Shin-Ken took ages to grow on me tbf, so based on that I reckon this is the year I might finally 'get' Spiritual Migration, lol
I've loved both these singles so I dunno, I'll just enjoy it by myself I suppose lol
I absolutely adore Spiritual Migration so I know I have no beef with their current sound. Excited to hear this
Digging: Ferrara Ensemble and Crawford Young - Figures Of Harmony: Songs Of Codex Chantilly c1390
This song is more aggressive than anything off of Aathma, at least that's how it feels to me. Excited to hear the whole thing in the future!
The way those harsh vocals entered the track was so jarring and not in a good way.
this one is great
You’re not alone in enjoying both the singles MarsKid - I’ve absolutely loved them both and could not be more excited for the new album next month. I totally agree with you about the anticipation between albums due to the long timeframe they take to make them; it just builds a sense of something really special when they release an album. Their current sound is a seamless evolution from Spiritual Migration and Aathma, which are two of my favourite albums ever. No doubts from me that the new album will be incredible.
Im going to jam Spiritual Migration and Aathma tomorrow and see if that gets me back on the Persefone band wagon.
I'm sorry, this song is just... aimless. The structure is... wonky as all hell, and even when it's as frenetic as it is, it still perplexingly manages to be too repetitious somehow. I am worried if I'll like the new album at this point. I hope it will grow on me, but rn, this is such a dud (and I wasn't huge on Merkabah either)
Yeah, the composition and structure of the song itself isn't bad but it fails to gain flow and just feels bland overall.
My expectations for the album are low but I'm still hyped af for Consciousness pt 3 tbh
