Havok are back

2020-02-28 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 32 Comments
Colorado-based thrashers Havok are back with 'Phantom Force', the first single taken from their upcoming new album V, out May 1st, via Century Media Records. The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder).

Stream 'Phantom Force' official video here:

Guitarist/vocalist David Sanchez explains about V : "A lot of experimentation went into the writing and recording of V. The album offers the same intensity that we’re known for, but with a few twists that may surprise people. The music is dense with lots of different intertwining parts and we’re beyond excited to release our best-sounding record to date."

V also welcomes new bassist Brandon Bruce, who comments: "I am really excited about this record and to be playing bass with Havok. We really focused on structure and songwriting while maintaining the heavy riffs and brutal music the band is known for. I’m proud of how it turned out and can’t wait for everyone to hear it."

V tracklist:

1. Post-Truth Era
2. Fear Campaign
3. Betrayed By Technology
4. Ritual Of The Mind
5. Interface With The Infinite
6. Dab Tsog
7. Phantom Force
8. Cosmetic Surgery
9. Panpsychism
10. Merchants Of Death
11. Don't Do It

I don't think I've ever listened to a record of theirs, but this band is awesome live. I don't know if I'd go see just them, but I'm glad I showed up early and checked them out cause they are tight as hell and super entertaining live.

I was about to post my extraordinary opinion when I suddenly read what parksungjoon said. Now I feel somewhat insecure. I'll wait for the general feedback before saying anything.

Definitely don't want to come across looking like some sort of poser. This is a real metal site, bro, do you even bleed liquid metal? probably not.

Time is Up and Burn shred. This new song sounds better than anything on their last two albums at least

Conformicide was easily on my of my favorite records of 2017. That being said, I'm glad this one seems to have a rougher edge.

You're a straight up dummy if you don't like Time Is Up, that shit riffs HARD. The rest of their stuff is just slightly above average revival thrash stuff.

The movement all these guitarists do with their hair when they start playing a solo is a real cringe. Song's boring.

Never been a big havok fan, song's alright I guess. But they're definitely not the "saviors of thrash" their fans like to portrait them as.

time is up is fun but disposable, songwriting always a bit suspect despite some good riffs and grooves

These dudes knew how to bring the bass up front in the mix too, if I remember correctly

Riffs like a thrash song. Solo's have always been decent with Havok. I've never been able to get into the singers lyrics or delivery, last album from memory had some cool moments musically but the lyrics persistently made me cringe.

All hail parksungjoon! The true prophet of objectively good music. He is aware of far more crusty Thrash records than you and thus, is infallible. It isn't gatekeeping when it's clearly true.
