Pretty meh upon first listen
Digging: 3776 - Saijiki
Can we forget about this band already?
Sounds strangely 80s.
The Shape of Cyberpunk to Come
Ha! I'm the first one to make that joke this time!
This band just needs to stop. Like, for real
Digging: Chelsea Wolfe - Birth of Violence
this is even more shit than the first song which is a pretty impressive feat
were refused allowed to take breaks when they made this track or did they had to do overtime for over a year to produce it
Digging: Rabbit Junk - REframe
I liked Blood Red but this is pretty meh
Digging: Atlantean Kodex - The Course of Empire
At this point I think it's safe to assume that tsoptc was a fluke
Band is fucking useless.
A game developer in the mid nineties would’ve hired a nobody to write a ‘rock’ tune for a specific set piece in some run of the mill point and click adventure and it genuinely would’ve been more impressive than this drek.
Why didn’t they just hire Perturbator to do the soundtrack or promo songs. At least synthwave would be way more fitting ffs
Cuz Perturbator would have made something compelling?
"I'd rather be forgotten, than remembered for giving in"
Man these tracks make me wish they'd been forgotten. This almost sounds like hair metal.
Between this and Black Flag (or whatever Greg Ginn decides to scramble together to milk that name for all it's worth) resuming activities again, it's a bad year for punk.
I actually think this song is decent and much better than Chippin’ In. So you know about 1/100th as good as TSOPTC
the chorus is alright, otherwise very limp
Shape of punk sucks too band has never been good but pump the brakes is a cool song I guess
Shape of punk sucks too
But “Songs to Fan the Flames ...” rules
Digging: Slothrust - Of Course You Do
"I liked them before SOPTC became a cult classic"
Most of the bands discography besides SOPTC is pretty boring in my eyes, but I don't really like regular hardcore. More of a post-hardcore, metalcore guy.
this is like, almost ok. refused is pretty good usually tho ;/
Digging: Wasted Space - poison ivy
It's becoming more and more obvious that refused are actually hacks and TSOPTC was literally some lucky ass fluke that probably wasnt even written by them.
Because they made music for the in-game rock band Samurai, where Johnny Silverhand aka Keanu Reeves (in Cyberpunk 2077) is the lead singer .. the main OST for the game is going to be synth based and you have different radio stations with various genres to choose from when driving
Maybe it was written by Jon, who played on their two good albums only, whom the band kicked out before they released Freedom.
revisionist history in this b
shape of punk is a classic
Nah you were just exposed to it at a certain place and time in your life that made you think it was significant and artistically satisfying but like when was the last time you heard it?
Album is so so hum drum
like a month ago
ive only known the album for two years
So you missed the boat and still thinks it’s good? I don’t know what tell you then but if you like it then you like it and that’s that haha
“revisionist history in this b
shape of punk is a classic”
@misho ah ok, thanks. Been pretty out of the loop with the game’s news
"missed the boat"
this is a music website
Shape is musical genius get out of here you stupid hipsters
Guess I missed the boat
Shape is great.
I like Freedom for nostalgia and War on the Palaces.
Refused pls step it up.
I think this song is kind of a banger tb, but I really don't like Chippin' In.
This song is nothing groundbreaking, just has a solid riff and a good chorus. Best Dennis has sounded since the reunion.
At first I was pretty meh on this, but I gotta admit after a few listens I really dig the chorus. Its still nothing special but its catchy so I'm cool with it. It'll prolly be fun to hear while I'm causing havoc in the game.
Digging: Lucki - Freewave 3
Their new songs actually sound the most like Everlasting but not as good
“revisionist history in this b
shape of punk is a classic”
Shape of Punk is definitely a classic, y'all is ridiculous. Acting like your feelings about the album somehow change its legacy.
Like, I've never been able to listen to a TOOL album all the way through, or an entire Black Sabbath album, or a Beethoven sonata, so that must mean that none of them deserve their spots in musical history, correct? The fuck outta here.
Refused ain't Beethoven, but they have their place. It was back then, and they aren't the same band with the same energy, but their place is secure.
goat comment ^
Digging: Guided by Voices - Zeppelin Over China
I think people (mostly me but whatever) are trying to say you’ve been duped. It’s not a classic like you think it is. Those other artists you mentioned come much closer. No it didn’t influence punk like they thought it would, the album title is assuming a lot for a underground punk band from Sweden. It’s not even all that punk if you ask me. Go ahead and put it in your classic albums section in your brain but to most of the music listening community as a whole they’ve never even heard of it let alone actually enjoy it let alone actually declaring it a classic.
Stop writing any music Refused.
you're a moron shark
It was a hugely influential album around the time and continues to be so. Just because you personally dont like it does not change its influence in the slightest and trying to degrade that influence to line up with YOUR view on the album is so utterly up your own arse its pretty hilarious. Theres plenty of classic albums I dont like.
'No it didn’t influence punk like they thought it would,' They never intended it too.
Youre taking the title a little bit too literal since its simply a twist on 'The shape of jazz to come' |
It was a finger in the air to a stale scene.
'In 2003, Kerrang! magazine listed The Shape of Punk to Come at #13 on their 50 Most Influential Albums of All Time list. In 2005, The Shape of Punk to Come was ranked number 428 in Rock Hard magazine's book The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time. In 2013, LA Weekly named it the twelfth best punk album in history. In 2015, the Phoenix New Times named it the fifth best political punk album ever.
The album has sold 179,000 copies in the United States as of June 2015'
hahah It wasnt influential at all though...
Lol alright dudes it’s a fuckin amazing record and all the good punk bands cite it as a seminal piece of work you convinced me
Very noble of you to admit you were talking shite
I’m always talking shit dude never take me too seriously
me too,me too ; )
haha we're all on the internet so we can say whatever we want lol what a fun time
