There's too much stuff, additional production filler, and weird effects going on in this track to really appreciate this dude's playing. I get what he's trying to do, and it's a cool idea, but you miss out on the highlight of the music in my opinion.

Yeah that is kinda where I'm heading towards as well, there is so much in this song and honestly I feel like the progressiveness kinda deteriorates from the overall enjoyment factor of the track. I mean, you can barely nod your head to it, I know that's what he is going for but ultimately I feel this is a song I won't be returning to very often.

I like this a whole lot, I can get lost in this dude's tone

Been only able to get into Wishful Lotus Proof. Can’t get into his other EPs
|

Zytecki is god.
This is really nice but would've benefitted from more gentle production like a lot of his other more delicate stuff.
|
| |
I wonder what he will do next now that he's quit Disperse. Something in a similar vein to Wishful Lotus Proof would be great.
|
| |
^^^This. Needs to do more heavy stuff again
|
| |
wishful lotus proof 2 electric boogaloo would really crack the whip

Took a listen, track was lovely. Production probably won't age very elegantly but I thoroughly enjoyed the song. For as wanky as a lot of it was, he tied a lot of segments together with some pretty callbacks. Really torn because no one is making anything like this but simultaneously, he's the best at bedroom prog fusion out there and he's largely put that sound on the back burner lately (or at least is opting to let atmospherics and light electronic elements take stronger precedence).
@tundra what do you mean by "can barely nod your head to it", the drums and bass synth are solidly running a 4/4 groove for the whole track with only one major rhythmic deviation at around the two minute mark for like a second?
|
| |
Just his typical music, pretty chill but not that special to me
|
| |
Seems poly-rhythmic though... or am I still sp00pido

| |
I thought this was one of those youtube vids where they put shitty playing instrumentation audio over a real music video...oops...
|
| |
Oops indeed
|
| |
This is the best prog metal I've heard in a long time! Holy shit!!!!!! Some of the best production I've heard in this style. Seriously my jaw is on the floor. Its been years since I've heard something this inventive and beautiful from this style. That main riff is unbelievable. Song of the year.

People are insane. everything in prog recently has been generic garbage, this sounds like Jaga Jazzist. Its lush perfection.
|
| |
maybe the worst thing ive ever listened to

"I thought this was one of those youtube vids where they put shitty playing instrumentation audio over a real music video...oops..."
forgive me if i'm mistaken, but your username implies that this sort of wanky instrumentation would be entirely up your alley

I love that this doesn't resemble anything from the progressive metal movement of the modern era thus far. One of the most insane tones. Ant the quiet/ loud dynamics and swells of synth really make this sound crazy. So damn cool.

ramon. - The Faceless is not just pure wankery...Planetary Duality clearly proves that.
|

This is a super good track

"ramon. - The Faceless is not just pure wankery...Planetary Duality clearly proves that."
I'm a fan of Planetary Duality and have defended it from wank accusations on this very site. The above track is far from pure wankery too. I don't really understand the internet's incessant conflation of note density and wank.
|
| |
Agreed. A lot of what is accused of being wank isn't wank at all.
