Sorority Noise rework YNAAYT

2018-02-22 by chris. | 28 Comments
Connecticut-based emo/punk band Sorority Noise have announced an upcoming rework/re-imagining of their newest album, You're Not As __ As You Think. The rework will feature less of the cathartic emo sound we've come to know and love from Sorority Noise, and more stripped-down arrangements with added strings.

Accompanying the announcement is a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Chelsea Hotel No.2" which will be featured on the album. The cover can be viewed via Youtube here.

YNAAYT, the official title of the rework, releases March 16 through Triple Crown Records.

Didn't that album just come out? Is this the new trend today, reworking your own albums and reselling them? orrrrrr?

I don't think they know how anniversary reissues work...

"cathartic emo sound"
fuckers, that album is like the most inoffensive, numbed down, watered out mildness your grandma can dance to.

It's not like Car Seat Headrest, I can understand that reworking and release of Twin Fantasy even if I'm not really a fan. But this is just beyond stupid to rework an album you released last year, it would've made more sense to release those songs on a deluxe edition of the album.

Also, that Cohen cover is atrocious. Just sayin'. Don't bother, lads.

Lame. I loved this album but this is completely unnecessary. The stripped down approach didn’t work for them on their “It Kindly Stopped For You” EP, so not sure what they’re thinking.

And yup embarrassing Cohen cover

I kind of enjoyed "It Kindly Stopped For You" and would love to see how they're changing up these songs exactly, but I can DEFINITELY see why everyone else isn't that big on it. Sorority Noise isn't exactly in the top tiers if we're being honest.

I don't doubt that they can pull off restraint--Cameron had a nice solo-acoustic album last year or 2016, I forget when--but I do question whether this will really yield any fruit, as they on the whole have not succeeded at scaling back.

I would hope it's on the same level as The Wonder Years' similar 're-imagining' project last year, but I know it absolutely won't even be close to the same level.

Either way, I won't go into this wanting to hate it, I'll pretty much never want to see an artist fail. I just don't have the highest expectations.

Feels like an innocent experiment to me, though I also quite like this cover.

That’s a fair point. Personally I’ve just never cared for their acoustic stuff so hard to get excited for this haha. Maybe it will surprise me

The only good thing this band has done was their 2nd record. The newest one has god awful lyrics & is extremely bland but hey the kids can relate to it
