Whoa, this is a good song. best thing i've heard out of this band in a while. great live show these
guys put on.
|
| |
An Enter Shikari song I enjoy! That hasn't happened since Common Dreads.
|
| |
Very nice. The past few singles have been a treat compared to their last album. I will probably end up enjoying this album.
|
| |
hopefully the last album was a fluke
|
| |
Well not bad, but didn't do much for me on one listen. Anyway the new album is looking fine if ya ask me. And indeed, these guys are crazy live
|
| |
great live
|
| |
Outstanding live.
|
| |
I agree they're good live, but this was really boring.
|
| |
man the bassist has such a great sexy voice, I wish he sang more
|
| |
Good song, bassist's vocals are so underused.
|
| |
Now everybody wants to show Shikari love? Well better late than never
|
| |
Last album was tight. Hopefully their new material improves on this new direction.

Really enjoyed this song.
Must be the only that liked the last album o_0
|
| |
I liked last album a lot!
|
| |
I saw them three years ago and the were insane.
It's a shame they toned down on the cool spastic dance moves
|
| |
it's pretty abysmal actually
|
| |
Chris need to sing a full song agreed
|
| |
Chris has an amazing voice and serves as an absolute phenomenal backup singer for the band, but i too would like to see him take control of the mic a bit more.
|
| |
Yeah his backing vocals on TTTS are hauntingly beautiful
Wonder why he doesn't get the chance to shine?
|
| |
A Flash Flood of Color is a 4.3/5
|
| |
He gets some good moments imo, i think they're just rationalizing his interventions. The dude is gold live too. He's singing on Juggernauts wow, too fucking good.
Damn 4.3/5? I can't give them that much. like 3.7/5 is good
|
| |
Common Dreads is 4.3/5 [2]
People I know always say I look like chris
Someone once asked me an autograph at a show lel
|
| |
I said Flash Flood of Color is a 4.3 you bitch! lol
|
| |
I know
|
| |
A flash flood of colour is a modern classic, the singles of the new album are very promising so far, one of the most interesting "core-related" bands out there
|
| |
HOME COULD BE ANYWHERE WHEN I AM HOLDING YOUUUU
|
| |
These songs are not going to be on any album tho
|
| |
RETURN TO ENERGIIIIIIIIIIIIIZEEEEEEEEEER
Finally the enter shikari circle jerk i've been waiting for
|
| |
wow this is good
|
| |
It's good, but they have at least 25 songs that are just as good.
|
| |
Such as
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70eMMVJVdkQ
|
| |
To all the people complaining about Chris's vocals being underused I agree but he has had more lead parts than just Juggernauts before
|
| |
Pretty cool song.
|
| |
Antwerpen = All Eyes On The Saint > their other songs
|
| |
Antwerpen is worst song on Common Dreads
Zzzonked >
|
| |
Don't u like punk?
|
| |
I always forget this is the same band who came out with Common Dreads. Take to the Skies and Flash Flood are just so Enter Shikari, but Common Dreads is just fucking weird. Good weird, still weird though.
|
| |
"Don't u like punk?"
I do just not that song
"Take to the Skies and Flash Flood are just so Enter Shikari, but Common Dreads is just fucking weird. Good weird, still weird though."
Dude Common Dreads is by far their best
|
| |
their best is probably the zone. full of better versions of tracks from take to the skies
|
| |
Yeah Keep it on Ice should've been on TTTS, fuck that's a great song
|
| |
seriously though, if they had done all the songs on take to the skies like they did on the zone it would be a 4.5. its weird, rous vocals sound better on the demo versions of those songs on The Zone then on the proper versions on TTTS
|
| |
^ true yeah the vocals were pretty awful all-round on TTTS except when Chris sang. Those attempts at deep growls like on Closing..... fucking urgh.
imo they just improved in every aspect between TTTS and Common Dreads
|
| |
Like it, not as much copy and paste as the last one ;)
|
| |
Chris' vocals on Adieu are sweet
|
| |
I don't know how you can like this but dislike their old stuff. This is so much less eclectic and interesting than their previous material
|
| |
haha indeed
|
| |
Pretty cool
|
| |
...The bass player should really do more of the singing in this band. He sounded phenomenal.
|
| |
Wanna know a secret? They have a live DVD coming out.
|
| |
Their last album had a documentary andcas
|
| |
Last album was a filler fest tbh.
|
| |
You wanted a documentary you fuck
;_;
|
| |
take to the skies is brilliant
|
| |
take to the skies kicks ass. never really got into common dreads for some reason
|
| |
double post...
|
| |
I've always enjoyed this band
|
| |
What's with all the AFFOC love? Isn't it the black sheep of their albums?
|
| |
Chris sung an entire song pretty much entirely without Rou on TTTS and it's like their best song to date
Really Chris's vocals were TTTS's main saving grace
|
| |
probably adieu or today wont go down in history. both great songs.
I really think this band is capable of coming out with a 5/5 record.
|
| |
Today Won't Go Down In History I was talking about, that one's half Chris and half Chris with Rou
Adieu is pretty much both of them together throughout the whole thing
|
| |
A few months ago you couldn't have more than one or two people and then me showing love for Enter Shikari as a whole. You had a few extras who like Take To The Skies tho.
I wonder what all this new found glory means? I'm definitely okay with it I want bands I like/love to do well, I'm just really confused how this is happening so fast.
|
| |
"Adieu is such a fucking beautiful song"
it really is, why they didn't use it as the closer for TTTS is beyond me
"A few months ago you couldn't have more than one or two people and then me showing love for Enter Shikari as a whole. You had a few extras who like Take To The Skies tho."
Well I wrote a 4.5 review for AFFOC when it came out, although it was an awful review and way too high rating at least I was showing some love
I mean how can people not at least dig the Jester?
|
| |
#basedcas4lyfe
|
| |
fuck now I just want to jam ES all night. might aswell do just that
|
| |
yeah I'm not gonna lie, this song made me listen to them for the first time in months, totally worth it.
|
| |
Andcas' ratio of more nicknames with the fewest username changes is unbeaten at this point.
|
| |
that's my point lol
Andcas
__________
Basedcas
Angstcas
Pisscas
Shitcas
Borecas
Funcas
Titcas
Madcas
|
| |
Common Dreads is fucking great all round
TTTS and AFFOC are both half great and half shit imo but TTTS just slightly gets the edge because of nostalgia
and yeah they got a lot of shit for no real reason
|
| |
Enter Shikari should be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 20-30 years.
|
| |
lol I know I just made the rest up. I'm trying out this thing called revisionist history. Many groups have mastered this art including, public schools, U.S. government, and World Wrestling Entertainment.
|
| |
I did sorry you're not a winner a lot
|
| |
heycas fuckcas don'tcas gocas soilingcas mycas goodcas namecas!
|
| |
lol fuck ass ahahaha
|
| |
hahahahahahhahaha
|
| |
dammit we had a good thread going here
can we go back to discussing Chris's voice please
|
| |
No none of you have been fans long enough you don't have the right.
Just kidding of course.
What is the guitarists name who does backing vocals live? He should stop and let this bassist guy do them.
|
| |
^ Liam Clewlow although he goes by Rory
and yeah I'm really not a fan of his backing vocals at all
I think Chris should just be the lead vocalist and Rou does backing
|
| |
I think Chris and Rou should take the approach Emery did from their first four albums.
|
| |
Haven't heard them, what approach is that?
|
| |
They had an even trade of clean vocals and spread out wailing screams. One of the best bands I everheard.
|
| |
Sounds alright although Rou's screaming isn't his strong point, a 50/50 split of Rou's cleans and Chris's cleans would be fucking sweet though.
|
| |
damn this is putting me in a shikari mood. We can breathe in space...
|
| |
THEY JUST DON'T WANT US TO ESCAAAAAAAAAAAAPE
fuck can't stop listening to this
|
| |
We Can Breathe in Space might be like in my top 3 shikari songs holy shit. and yeah this new one is pretty cool. Honestly most of their non album singles are really good
|
| |
yeah they leave a lot of their best stuff off albums unfortunately, fuckin Destabilise, Tribalism and All Eyes on the Saint man
|

in the sunlight where you caught us

a heedless and harrowing future is developing our generation and generations to come
(a heedless and harrowing future is developing our generation and generations to come)
and as I walk the chartered streets of this familiar oblivion I recognise nothing but unyielding unconsciousness, in which we have almost comfortably drowned
it is madness (THIS IS MADNESS)
this normality is madness
we are clinging to manufactured crippling constraints
we must no longer commute between brand-laden homes, and quickly accepted aimless roams, from our factories of slavery
to wars of elusive bravery
WE MUST UNITE
|
| |
well this was a great thread, never forget
|
| |
"Now, I don't know about you, but I don't think the primary purpose of your life, of my life and the entirety of the human race's is just to blindingly consume to support a failing economy and a faulty system. Forever and ever until we run out of every resource and have to resort to blowing each other up to ensure our own survival. I don't think we're supposed to sit by either while we continue to use a long outdated system that produces war, poverty, collusion, corruption, ruins our environment and threatens every aspect of our health and does nothing but divide and segregate us. I don't think how much military equipment we are selling to other countries, how many hydrocarbons we're burning, how much money is being printed and exchanged, is a good measure of how healthy our society is but I do think I can speak for everyone when I say, we're sick of this shit."
|
| |
Song is great, band is great, AFFoC is their best album, my opinion is right, everyone else shut up.
|
| |
Double post on account of Sputnik being spaztacular on tablet *shrug*
|
| |
common dreads is better, now you hush
|
| |
AFFOC their best? noooooope
|
| |
the zone is horribly ignored. it has 9 tracks you cant find on TTTS, Common Dreads or AFFOC. yeah, a few of the tracks are just different versions of TTTS songs but theyre all way better in my opinon.
if you really like ES then try it out
|
| |
KEEP
IT
ON
ICE
amazing song
|
| |
yep. also the mothership 2006 download version is fucking amazing. its the song that got me into them (and music with screamed vocals) and I still think its a 5/5 song. better than the TTTS version by far
|
| |
A good song from a good band who are good live. Yay.
|
| |
IIIIII'm biting the blade of your scissoooooooors
(as the champaaaagne fizzeeeeesssss)
keep it oooon iiiiice, there's plenty more biting to dooo yet

And anyway who cares?
THE SUN IS OUT
So
Stare at the sun.
Stare at the sun.
This is everything I ever wanted.
This is everything I ever wanted.
This is everything I ever wanted.
This feeling's all I need.
|
| |
yeah, the Zone rules
Tribalism is also a fucking good compilation
|
| |
oh shit I totally forgot about that. I also know all their old stuff that's scattered across their eps. haven't listened to it in years though.
|
| |
love the first four songs on Tribalism, especially the title track and All Eyes. Never really listened to the pre-TTTS EPs.
|
| |
the pre ttts eps are all pretty messy and basically contain different versions of tracks from ttts plus some tracks they never released on anything else. some of them are pretty decent, and some sorta suck.
|
| |
yeah I kinda got that impression, never cared enough to try them out though
which ones are decent?
|
| |
definitely the anything can happen in the next half hour ep. its got different versions of jonny sniper and anything can happen on it and I prefer them
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4EX60Yqpgg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ffjs9ql6tk
|
| |
Next Half Hour is sounding a lot better in that version yeah, quality is crap but wow Rou is actually screaming rather than just doing that high-pitched whine that was so annoying on TTTS
|
| |
i know. he sounds so much better on all the demos then on TTTS (except the really early ones on the other eps where he sounds fucking horrible)
still got my ttts vinyl though. they nailed the trance parts on that album
|
| |
yeah the heavy parts on TTTS fucking suck but the softer parts are fuckin' A, especially when Chris is singing cos uuuuuugggghhhh
|
| |
HE HAS SUCH A HOLY CHOIRBOY TAKE ME TO HEAVEN NOW KINDA VOICE
|
| |
This song is good and band is so fun live I don't even care.
|
| |
I would have sex with Chris's voice if that were physically possible, it's just gorgeous
|
| |
Go see me live man it's a blast, crowd when Zzzzonked came on was ridiculous.
|
| |
Enter 2014: The Year of the Shikari
|
| |
Well mayb
|
| |
"Go see me live"
yeah sure I'll see you live Pleb lol
but yeah I would like to see them sometime
|
| |
I've seen them 3 time and I wanted to go see them again this year, butttttt
they are only playing european shows as part of Warped Tour Europe
no thanks
|
| |
Not sure if I'd want to see them after AFFOC anyway, I mean it's not a terrible album but I'd rather see them play older songs
guess I'll have to wait to see what the next album is like but this song is getting my hopes up
|
| |
they still play old songs and I think you would enjoy them playing AFFOC songs live anyway just because of the energy. PURE ENERGY
|
| |
Everything I've heard from Enter Shikari before wasn't that great imo. This song is actually pretty good.
|
| |
I would definitely like to see Warm Smiles, Stalemate and Pack of Thieves but the rest eh. If they played ...Meltdown I think I'd have to leave and come back lol
|
| |
AFFOC is way better live
every song is, because they keep adding new parts. They play shorter sets though and they are not as crazy on stage as before.
The first time I saw them they played over 2 hours
|
| |
2 hours? FUCK they could pretty much play all three albums in that time
|
| |
that was before quelle surprise was released as studio recording
|
| |
ah yeah I remember Quelle Surprise
well damn they must have extended their songs by a lot to go over 2 hours
|
| |
they add weird techno parts to them, or just repeat finishing choruses a few times.
|
| |
sounds alright, I've seen Live at Planet Earth which ruled so yeah
If I do see them live I just want to be as close as possible to Chris and then I can die happy
I would say no homo but actually slightly homo
|
| |
after listening to adieu, I understand having confusing feelings for chris. its ok, everyone has them for chris
|
| |
he's pretty good-looking too let's be real
and Rou is the main one who sings Adieu I'm pretty sure, Today Won't Go Down is Chris
|
| |
na chris has some lovely parts in adieu. hes singing in the background for most of it, and you can just hear his angelic voice pushing through.
|
| |
Oh yeah I know he does backing on Adieu but I'm sure he's lead on Today
|
| |
oh yeah your right. thanks to this thread, ive been listening to ttts all night and have decided to bump it to a 4.5 . I think it deserves it because the songs are all pretty good and the only problem I have with it is rous vocals are a bit shit sometimes.
|
| |
I bumped it to a 3.5 yesterday, I doubt it'll go higher than that though because of songs like Closing.
|
| |
oh yeah you said you don't like his deep growls. I really don't mind them.
|
| |
I don't mind them after TTTS but on that album he sounded like he was trying to shout through clenched teeth and it's awful. Closing is unlistenable.
|
| |
"yeah yeah were nice guys
UNTIL WE'RE NOOOOOOOOOOOOT"
when they played that live some stranger grabbed me by the shoulders and screamed it into my face in the middle of a pit. I did the same back. it was certainly a memorable moment
|
| |
All of this Shikari love makes me happy and this song is so good.
|
| |
