tremendous.

chug
| |
Am I the only one who thinks the clean vocals at the end kinda sounded like the cleans from Of machines?
| |
Awesome
| |
yeah this guy sings like Dylan Anderson.
| |
Saw the song title and album name and instantly knew how this would sound.
Does it really count as progressive when it sounds like dozens of other bands and doesn't push any boundaries of song writing, structure or technicality?
| |
someone called my name? goin' to lead (: ggs. good song, especially the bridge plus the ending. dope!
| |
i'm quite excited for their sophomore.
| |
not bad
| |
Yeah, pretty much what Daniel said. It will probably be solid, but it's probably gonna be such a safe release, not pushing any boundaries whatsoever.
| |
terrible
| |
GOOD not great though.
| |
This is too good, can't wait for their new album now.
| |
boring. used to like these guys but I've grown to dislike them. Vocals don't fit the band, saturated,
and overrated.
| |
ur evolving dude check camel next
| |
camel what now
| |
they are the best band ever dude get the album mirage it will change your life trust me bro i wouldnt lie to you i am the one person you can trust
| |
lol awful song
| |
Cool track. I hope they expand their songwriting, though.
| |
very solid song.
| |
Pretty solid track. They don't seem to be forcing as much synth and guitar leads into one song as some of their peers.
| |
sounds pretty generic to me. Not bad though, but they have much better songs in their previous album
| |
Is this the same song that leaked a while ago? I remember the cleans sounded not as annoying. I would listen but I'm waiting for GTA.
| |
Will listen later
| |
Haha waitin on gta too
| |
terrible
agreed
| |
Wow, impressive. Lyrics are incredible.
| |
Great song! Aside from a few tracks, their last didn't really impressed me though.
| |
Not bad. I remember their last album was fun for a little while, didn't have much staying power though.
| |
meh
| |
Awesome song.
| |
Lyrics like the ones in this song really bother me. The formula seems to be: mixed metaphors, "big" subject matter and clunky/cumbersome choice of words in an effort to appear smart.
It all just feels like it tries too hard to say something and ends up saying nothing.
| |
This isn't bad. Feels the same as impulse to me though.
| |
I like how they reacted to the negative feedback on the vocals and made him sing somewhat lower
| |
Saw the song title and album name and instantly knew how this would sound.

omg shut the fuck up
| |
lyrics are borderline pretentious but song is good.
| |
East Hastings, did my comment hurt your feelings? It's a perfectly justifiable observation that something with a 'progressive' tag being anything but progressive seems kind of redundant.
Please excuse me while I try to talk with the grown-ups young man.
| |
And the award for most condescedingly cunty comment goes to....
Also, Progressive Metalcore as a genre is, by definition, encompassed by a certain sound, as all genres more or less must be.
Because if it varies too much, it by definition begins to move towards another genre. If you're going to post flamebait, perhaps you should try to do it with a slight bit more tact next time.
| |
fucking good!
| |
I'm going to agree with Winsomniac about that comment being flamebait.
If you don't even like the genre why write a comment at all? It's like me going to every news about country music and bitching about it. why do that when i don't like country at all? makes 0 sense to me.
in any case, been listening to this song all day now. It's pretty much exactly what I want from Erra.
| |
I can understand wanting to be vocal about not enjoying something. He's entitled to his own opinion, as much as I am to mine. It just crosses the line into shitlord territory when you go out of your way to try to put down someone else's relationship with something they enjoy, as if it was a means to justify your own dislike of the same thing.
In the end, you're just being a twat, NightLewis.
| |
thread is full of melodramz
| |
I probably did come across overly dick-like in this thread, my initial I still stand by my initial point about it not really being progressive (though I will add that it isn't without technical merit but these things are not really inclusive).
I like plenty of metalcore so to assume that my negged out statement was from a place of pure shit stirring is incorrect though I do concede to being less than tactful. I just find that on the whole stuff in the vein of Erra's latest offering hold just as few surprises as the more basic/straightforward end of the genre.
| |
from a guy on youtube:
"Their virtuosity doesn't come from the allurement of what is being heard vocally and instrumentally, rather, it comes from what is being seen and said lyrically. The use of unconventional and well-written figurativeness drifts ones mind into bewilderment, seeking what is being conveyed. That being said, too many bands today write with literal expression; there's nothing extraordinary about what is apparent, it's about what is unknown."
Kill me.
| |
-_-
| |
Lol wtf, thanks for that Mike
Song is aight, cleans got a little better
| |
@Night: I could see what you mean about them being relatively predictable in that this is a 'safe' song that doesn't really push their style in any direction. But I'm not entirely sure I believe that a band needs to progress in order to really push themselves further. I think so "Pulse" is a nice tightening and slight mix on what made me personally enjoy Erra so much to begin with, but I definitely don't see this necessarily winning them fans that would not have enjoyed their older material anyway, if that's what you mean.
Either way, I just think the whole "oh did I make you mad" vein of argument is juvenile and should either be used sarcastically or unabashedly.
| |
its pretty good... pretty generic though
| |
Some serious Mis Sigs influence in this.
Love it.
| |
I think Mike's post makes a good point as to why some people like DanielNightLewis see this band as being nothing special. It simply comes down to the idiocy of a good majority of their fans. That youtube comment is nothing but the self important blabbering of a idiotic fanboy trying to sound smart. I like Erra but this song did not impress me in the least. They are using the exact same formula that they chose to use on their last album, just adding more synth and lower singing. Hopefully the rest of the album will be better but, judging by the two songs that I have heard, this is shaping up to just be more of the same that we have come to expect from the band.
| |
I think erra realized that they have a decent formula for making solid progressive metalcore music without ever needing to sway from that. in the future they might, but it's quite understandable why they would release an "Impulse 2.0" if you will.
| |
As of first listen I feel this to fall pretty short of some of the hits of Impulse.
| |
the harsh vocalist crams too many words into his phrases. otherwise stellar.
| |
Yeah it sounds kinda gnarly live from the videos ive seen
| |
i'd really like a chance to see these guys live.
| |
Fucking awesome song
| |
lol
| |
the first 10 seconds were awful, im sure the rest sucks
| |
yup nexus.
