Bored already.
| |
Aaand we go further downhill.
| |
sounds the same as anything else I've ever hear this band do
| |
You'd think this band would have progressed by now...
| |
I was hoping for something more.
Though I expect it to be a slow burner.
| |
I dig the song. As for lyric videos go, it's pretty sweet. The lyrics aren't anything special at all, but it looks pretty cool.
| |
Average video, fucking terrible lyrics. How far can you go with generic metalcore without any sort of progression.
| |
The best known Tulsa band until I came along
| |
I think I wrote these exact lyrics onto my school desk when I was like 14
| |
Leveler was the most boring thing ever, seems like this is going to be no exception.
| |
i dont mind these guys, but this was just boooring. they're starting to sound samey.
| |
I really liked the song. Reminded me a lot of Constellations.
| |
Damn that was mediocre
| |
Average song. They will never top constellations
| |
Nothing special. I was expecting something different since they said they were bored with metalcore.
| |
Too chuggy in the verses, apart from that it's just Leveler 2.0.
| |
Liked it. Sounds kinda like a mix of the stuff from Constellations and Messengers. Lyrics could be way
better though.
| |
shit song from sht band
| |
Where's my salsacore at?
| |
Hush this noise, I love this! NonApplicable, seems like we're on our own here.
| |
Song is really average, but many bands have a pattern of releasing shit singles, so I'll reserve complete judgment until the album is released.
Still, despite that, I don't think the album is going to be great.
| |
that was pretty damn decent, imo. maybe i'm just a sucker for the sound these assholes keep using. those guitars and vox are sweet as hell, though.
| |
nice one! catchy as hell
| |
guitars sounds sweet, vocals sound sweet. lyrics blow lol
| |
I loved it all around. I've never even got into these guys either; this song just worked for me. Also, hands down the best lyric video I've ever seen. So much better than pointless flashing lyrics.
| |
great song
| |
Kind of disappointed, maybe it'll grow on me.
| |
Just another standard ABR song, but I like it.
| |
So much wasted potential.
| |
So much wasted potential [2]
| |
Wasted potential is the best way to describe this song. This sounds like a Messengers/Constellations B-Side
It's not that they're writing bad songs, it's that they're writing the same song over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over
| |
I don't understand why all the hate for this band. So many other popular bands around here make the same album over and over and get praised while others try to experiment and get a shit load of hate for trying to do something different(Opeth, ).
I dig the new song and while the lyrics are not all that different from a lot of their previous work, I can appreciate the lyrics being positive and uplifting, espcially since they are a Chrisitian band.
| |
"I don't understand why all the hate for this band."
It isn't hate, it's boredom and disappointment. But at this point, I expect to be disappointed.
| |
who keeps making all these shitty news articles
| |
"It isn't hate, it's boredom and disappointment. But at this point, I expect to be disappointed."
Says the guy who barely even listens to metal or metalcore
| |
Not even going to bother.
| |
People who obviously don't like this band swarm to make negative comments. Brilliant. I wish I had thought of that.
| |
"People who obviously don't like this band swarm to make negative comments. Brilliant. I wish I had thought of that."
Another moron makes an account just to support a generic band.
Also, fuck you. I don't need to elaborate to justify your stupidity.
| |
Musically I thought it was pretty good. Really dig the quiet introspective part and Jake's vocals have gotten better. But I'm disappointed by how awkward the lyrics are.
| |
No need to flirt. I don't play for your team.
| |
Yeah, this was disappointing. They peaked at Constellations and it looks like they'll only continue to go downhill from there.
| |
"Another moron makes an account just to support a generic band."
I actually find this band mediocre at best. I do find it humorous that it's that easy to get someone so upset.
| |
"I don't understand why all the hate for this band. So many other popular bands around here make the same album over and over and get praised while others try to experiment and get a shit load of hate for trying to do something different(Opeth, ). "
There's a big difference here. Now, before you assume I don't like this band, I do. I still listen to them fairly frequently and they're one of the few metalcore bands I still do so with. That being said, they've always had a generic sound, they just pull it off really well, but now the sound has worn itself out. This song was boring because I've heard the same song from them many times. Other bands can make the same album because their sound is probably still fresher without a million other bands trying the same exact sound. Bands that experiment get a shit load of hate when their experiment sounds like shit.
The short version: If it's boring or sounds bad, we're not going to like it, regardless of other factors.
| |
Still doesn't sound too interesting. You'd think this band would release one of their breakthrough songs as a single as opposed to playing it safe.
| |
I was wondering if this record would be more of the same. Based on the comments, I don't even have to listen to the song to find out. RIP ABR 2003-2013
| |
This sounds just like White Washed...
| |
zzzzzz
| |
"I was wondering if this record would be more of the same. Based on the comments, I don't even have to listen to the song to find out. RIP ABR 2003-2013"
Lol
| |
I'm a pretty huge fanboy for this band and I didn't like this song, what is up with those vocals? More growling, less talking out of rhythm. Music was good but not as good as Constellations or even Leveler. Song could have done without the breakdown too. Oh well, at least TDWP and Texas In July have new material to copy
| |
its not as bad if you just cut out the first 2 minutes of the song
| |
these lyrics are a joke...
| |
these lyrics are a joke... oh wait the whole band is
| |
Same empty chugcore without ANY melody.
| |
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and reserve judgement until the album drops; it does appear, however, that ABR have become adverse to taking a risk. Oh well, as long as it has a standout track or two like Poor Millionaire i'll be satisfied.
| |
Gonna go back and listen to constellations if this is all they have now
| |
The fanboys on their fb page are hilarious
| |
When they said metalcore wasn't an interesting genre to play anymore,
Where they referring to themselves?
| |
Ya know this really could be worse. I mean I havent listened to an entire CD since messengers, but hell it wasnt leveler.
| |
I said to myself "if they make another Leveler, I'm done with them" - and I like Leveler. This doesn't keep my hopes that high.
| |
SSDD.
| |
Haven't listened to it but ill bet I know what it sounds like!
| |
I agree that this song is just more of the same, but the rest of the album is likely to be much more progressive. If not, everything they've been saying about this album is a bunch of bullshit. From their bio:
"They say the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If true, then in many ways the genre of metalcore has become the equivalent of insanity - hundreds of bands repackaging the same structures, same guitar riffs and scream-sing choruses to the same effect.
To borrow a popular 90’s motivational phrase, AUGUST BURNS RED would like to 'stop the insanity.'
The band’s latest album, Rescue & Restore, is a colossal effort which turns a critical eye to the oft-maligned genre, leading by example to prove that bands can still find exciting new ways to expand the genre without simply falling into repetitive trappings."
Maybe this song is intended to draw in the average metalcore fan, and the diehard ABR fans that love the sound that has made them famous.
| |
lol
| |
Sounds exactly like everything they've done. I so want them to progress, I used to love this band.
| |
Bio is lol indeed. Oh well, let's hope in the full album. Lyrics are dumb in any case and worse than anything of theirs I've ever read.
| |
hey remember back when before it became cool to hate on these guys here
| |
Diggin this, you guys are crazy
Will still wear my ABR shirt
| |
Complaining about a christian metalcore band's lyrics lol
| |
yeah I ordered the limited vinyl + t-shirt package I rule
| |
Good song, bad lyrics. Pretty much expected... not sure why people are so upset about the lyrics...
| |
He thought very hard while writing those lyrics, i'm sure....
| |
Solid song, I was expecting a little more from the ABR fellas though. I'm sure the rest of the album will be better.
| |
Alright song. I have faith that the rest of the album will be much better.
| |
"i think its all about the positivity of the lyrics that pisses all of these hateful pessimists off. negative people are attracted to negativity."
Or perhaps it's because the lyrics are in fact shitful. Lyrics being positive or negative have no relation to them being any good.
| |
Kind of to the point where I just want this band to go away. I haven't liked much from them since Messengers anyways.
| |
Complaining about a christian metalcore band's lyrics lol [2]
they are hardly ever good. that's like complaining about for today saying ''jesus'' too much in a song lol. song is meh.
| |
sucked
| |
"i think its all about the positivity of the lyrics that pisses all of these hateful pessimists off. negative people are attracted to negativity."
Like someone before me said, there's nothing wrong with positive lyrics; it's just that these are so pedestrian that the sentiment comes off as phony. Not to mention the delivery. Screaming "now" over a heavy riff has been tacky since before nu-metal.
| |
The lyrics don't really flow. I think this will be one of the safer songs on the album. Hopefully anyway.
"They will never top constellations"
They did before they wrote it. It' called Messengers.
| |
"i think its all about the positivity of the lyrics that pisses all of these hateful pessimists off. negative people are attracted to negativity."
lol get real
| |
really good shit.
| |
i understand the hate i just don't see why it took all so long to see this band sucks
| |
Constellations and the Debut are the best.
| |
Actually, Messengers is starting to rise in quality for me.
| |
very meh song, absolute shit lyrics. albums gonna be a 2.5 at most
| |
lol at that bio and then this is the first single the release
ABR aren't bad or whatever but I consider them along with Texas In July to be like the epitome of generic metalcore. Christmas album ruled though
| |
They're far from generic metalcore if you ask me, they actually have riffs and stuff unlike all that other shit out there with the keyboard and the autotune and the same 4 note riffs
| |
They do have some badass fuckin riffs but for me they kinda get lost in the mix of everything. Like there are moments when I'm listening to them and I'm like yeah that was a pretty sweet riff but I never get those moments where I'm like Damn....that was awesome and then play back that part of the song or whatever idk
| |
I'm really digging the hell out that kickass lyric video. Probably the most creative and unique one I've seen so far.
| |
Pretty cool song. Hope the whole album walks among these lines.
| |
Constellations B-Side. rest will be salsacore 4 sure. this is just tease for the 'oldschool' fans..and not even a great one.
| |
""They will never top constellations"
They did before they wrote it. It' called Messengers."
I agree 100%.
| |
I thought this was cool erry body needs to stfu
| |
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
| |
really lame. i loved constellations when it came out but they just fail to engage anymore. and his lyrics really, really suck now; what's up with that huh
| |
"really lame. i loved constellations when it came out but they just fail to engage anymore. and his lyrics really, really suck now; what's up with that huh"
That or you just matured a little with music or you're use to their sound. Because this song is just like their others.
| |
this song doesnt hold a candle to anything off constellations or messengers for that matter
| |
Constellations was damn good, though. And I could not name a single song off Leveler off the top of my head.
| |
this song doesnt hold a candle to anything off constellations or messengers for that matter
[2]
| |
"Constellations was damn good, though. And I could not name a single song off Leveler off the top of my head."
Having loved Messengers and Constellations, and liked Leveler, i gotta confess, i find it hard to name a song off Leveler that i've heard more than 5 times or so.
| |
this band is so fucking boring
half the songs on constellations start on the exact same note
| |
Truly saddening. Yet here we go again.
Constellations .03: Torched Cannon Fodder
And yet I will probably find literally 1 song on the entire album that deserves any attention.
| |
People seem to be really disliking this song.. I still have some faith in this album.
| |
I do too, but I am just surprised at how safe and tame this track is considering how the band was describing the new album.
| |
these lyrics are a joke... oh wait the whole band is
Your face is a joke.
| |
Constellations had a few great songs but Leveler was insufferably boring and I expect this to be the same
| |
Leveler was very lackluster, agreed.
Your face is a joke. [2]
| |
Music I consider bad makes me upset. I have nothing else going for me, so I feel the need to tell all of you this. Enjoy.
| |
"Messengers" is the greatest record they've ever done, no question. Maybe "Meddler" is a best song and I know it's coming from "Constellatons" but "Messengers" is the most consistent one : "The truth of a liar", "Backburner", "Composure" and "Redemption" are songs that they always play live in every set. And I can't forget about my personal favourite "The blinding light".
| |
Decent.
| |
damn you guys are still talking about this shitty band
| |
Nar just me catching up on what l missed.
| |
