New Frank Turner album

2013-01-16 by dimsim3478 | 34 Comments
English folk singer-songwriter Frank Turner has announced the release of his fifth studio release Tape Deck Heart. To be released on the 22nd of April, Turner is already offering up pre-orders for the record (on CD and vinyl), as well ticket sales for a six date UK tour coinciding with the album's release. Tape Deck Heart will be issued in both a standard edition and a deluxe edition with six additional tracks.

Though tickets for the UK tour will begin officially at 9am on Friday 25th January, pre-orders of the new record from Turner's website will be accompanied by access to an exclusive pre-sale for tickets occurring 48 hours before general sale begins. The dates of the tour are as follows:

Wed 17 Apr – Manchester, Academy
Thu 18 Apr – Glasgow, O2 Academy
Fri 19 Apr – Leeds, Uni Refectory
Sun 21 Apr – Bristol, Academy
Wed 24 Apr – Birmingham, Academy
Thu 25 Apr – London, Forum

Turner has seen an exponential rise in fame since the release of his acclaimed fourth studio album, England Keep My Bones, in June of 2011. Escalating into a 12,000-seat sellout of Wembley Arena in London, Turner's newfound popularity finally reached its peak when he was personally invited by Danny Boyle, director of such films as Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting, for a surprise performance at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, playing to a live audience of almost 200,000 as well as approximately 25 million television viewers. Along with extensive worldwide touring, 2012 also saw the release of his compilation album/live DVD Last Minutes and Lost Evenings.

New Frank is always good news. That said, he played three new songs last time I saw him in November and I wasn't overly impressed.

hope it will be more like 07-08 era Frank Turner and less like his recent work, which is decent but
still shit compared to Love, Ire, and Song, and Sleep is for the Week.

He's got a punk background, yes, but that doesn't change the fact that his solo work can barely be classified as being so
