Generic risecore. What happened MMF?
| |
Sleepwalking > everything else they've ever done.
Oh well.
| |
Hmm, even though I was a huge fan of The Hollow, this is definitely a step down for them. Also, the lyrics seem way too literal, something which is definitely not effective in this genre.
| |
it had its moments but overall i this song was o.k. REALLY HOPING THE ENTIRE ALBUM ISNT LIKE THIS !
| |
Not bad. Hopefully the rest of the album is heavier.
| |
Not bad. Singer shows what he got in this one.. and even if it's "generic risecore", it's about the best fucking "generic risecore" there is (speaking of the band as a whole, not this song). 3.5
| |
This song had a few moments for me, but I was really hoping they would do something diffident from 3:18 onwards, instead of placing another chorus.
Hoping this won't end up being Hollow 2.0
| |
Eh, that was pretty bad.
The Hollow was great, and this is just.....eh.
| |
At first I thought the lyrics were meant for Rise... it felt a bit wierd viewing it on the Rise YouTube channel, haha. It's about their former label, Trustkill.
| |
This kinda sucks : (
| |
Hollow is definitely better than this.
| |
Eh enjoyed it, I like how Matties vocals have come along.
| |
It wasn't terrible, but they're definitely capable of better material.
I think they tried to force out an album too soon.
| |
gonna have to agree with most people. matty sounds good but the band is capable of way better. hope the rest of the album is better than this
| |
Why did they have to abandon their southern sound? This was alright but they used to be unique. Does Rise force bands to sound like this?
| |
Overall solid song, nothing really jumped out about it. Hopefully one of the weaker songs on the album.
| |
This song seems more along the lines of between the lines, which is ok, but im hoping for better from the album
| |
Awesome message!
But it was so much better when they did it the first time in The Victim!
I hate the vocal production!
I hope the whole album isn't like this!
| |
Gonna have to say, I'm stoked for the new album.
| |
Song is just okay, certainly no better than anything from the last album, worse than some of it. I really want this album to be good, so I hope the rest is better than this... they're clearly capable of putting out really fun songs. And yeah, their vocalist is pretty damn good.
| |
lyrics are awkwardly specific but still less generic and vague than most of the hollow.
| |
Man this song would have been so much better if they had done something different at the end, after that heavy section. The chorus is pretty old by that point.
| |
i hate fake laughing
| |
^ Oh yeah I literally cringed at that part.
| |
Wtf? song was good and entertaining. Hopefully not the best on the album though. So quick to judge an entire album off of a SINGLE you guys are. Kind of ridic
| |
I really liked the song. I'm excited for the new album.
| |
Nothing will beat their first ep.
| |
Good song. The lyrics are pretty sick. Matty is getting better and better. However the chorus was a bit weak and hopefully Kellen has better guitar parts on the rest part of the album
| |
And yeah totally agree with Snide and Flutter
| |
hated the lyrics. loved the HAHAHAHA
will never be as good as sleepwalker again.
| |
The Hollow is sick yo
| |
the clean singing fucking sucks
| |
its pretty good, but ghost in the mirror>all
and your kidding right? i wish this band would drop all the screams so i could just hear his cleans
| |
it's okay. nothing too special, but definitely not bad.
| |
Rather mediocre
| |
Ya, this sucks. It isn't offensively bad, but like most metalcore these days, the song happens, and then I just don't care. And it's that stagnancy that's turning me into a jaded old prick towards this genre.
| |
The chorus left a bit to be desired but on the whole I thought this was pretty good.
| |
God, modern production on music like this is unbearably awful...
| |
Pretty good. The lyrics are great.
| |
They had something unique with the southern feel on Sleepwalking, I really don't see why they wanted to change it.
| |
I hate the lyrics, and the fake laugh.
| |
The lyrics are fine, though the chorus wasn't as good as MMF standards.
| |
fake laugh was amusing to me. i agree with most people that the chorus was a bit weak though. other than that it's a decent song
| |
Worse than any song on The Hollow, but still pretty good. Hopefully the rest of the album is better, this seemed more predictable than their usual stuff.
| |
oh dear
| |
too high to care about any fine points at the moment, mmf are excellent
| |
Atleast it wasn't as horrid as the album cover
| |
so count your money
and i'll count my friends
we'll see who's richer in the end
The best line in the song.
| |
lol
| |
I take it back. I listened to it a bit and enjoy it. Love the laughing into a breakdown. It was also a above average breakdown if you ask me
| |
song was ok.
and god damn i fucking hate lyric videos.
| |
Lol every one of those breakdowns were hugely underwhelming, and didn't add anything to the song besides the one with the "richer in the end" one which was super cliched. I think this is a good point in time to give up on this band.
| |
Def not
| |
Come on Chuck you honestly can't think this is any better than any other modern metalcore band... It's not terrible, but just so unsatisfying considering its MMF.
| |
I quite enjoyed the song thanks much.
| |
This was alright but I didn't overly enjoy it as much as I wanted to.
| |
Yeah not as good as anything on The Hollow IMO. But still good. I like the lyrics a lot
| |
Pretty good, hope theres better on the album though.
| |
so count your money
and i'll count my friends
we'll see who's richer in the end
Yeah that's awesome. I also like the laughing before the early breakdown. That stuff is always fun.
| |
Haha yeah...
JUN JUNJUN JUN JUNNUNUN JUN
| |
Still excited for the album doe
| |
I dug this a lot. Ending was cool. Will probably be on par with The Hollow or better, could go either way, doubt it'll end up worse.
| |
It was cool. But if this were on The Hollow itd be like the worst song on it
| |
Lyrics are terrible. Can't believe some of you think that these are good lyrics. The song is just one big generic mess. I liked The Hollow even those most of the songs sounded the same, but those songs were better than this.
| |
^ Tom
Lyrics aren't that bad. They are super direct and obvious, not that creative. "Ignorance had me by the throat from the day I learned how to sing" .. I like that line.
| |
Worse than any song off of The Hollow, better than most bands around. hope this is the softest song on the album, that might be the only way it could work out not being complete filler.
| |
I was hoping for more lube
| |
is it shitty as fuck?
| |
This was really boring and un-catchy compared to their previous works.
MMF...what happened?
| |
They were only "awesome" with the ep. everything else from there was just pretty good
| |
Dear Memphis May Fire,
Don't sign to Riserecords and produce lyrics like this afterwards.
-Owen
| |
^ Ya, exactly.
| |
Why not Owen
| |
this band makes a day to remember sound fantastic
| |
chorus sounds like theyre trying to be sleeping with sirens
lol
| |
2nd comment is a win
| |
Trustkill has fucked over so many people. My buddy in It Dies Today said that they withheld royalty checks for almost a year! He survived on part time bartending, a small clothing line, and merch sales... When they could afford to play a show. No per diem, no support from the label, no nothing. It's no surprise they went under.
| |
Yeah no joke
| |
Trustkill is done... They are now Bullet Tooth. Pity the fool that signs to them.
| |
uhh while Rise Records may have a lot of shit bands, they are one of the most loyal and understanding labels out there.
| |
sounds more like the sound on sleepwalking. it's alright not amazing
| |
The Prove Me Right
| |
bloc made that joke already, but its still funny
| |
this is fucking atrocious bullshit. rise have done it again.
| |
SUDDEN TRANSITION INTO A BREAKDOWN.
| |
I hope the rest of album is miles better then this because I'm done with it after like four listens and I was addicted to The Hollow for like a week or two.
| |
OH WHAT A SHOCK ANOTHER BREAKDOWN
| |
Song was decent, not all too fond of the lyrics.
| |
I don't know why people are commenting about the breakdowns, it's expected. Memphis May Fire have said themselves they've chosen to take a heavier, more chug-driven approach with their music.
| |
how is the new with life in mind praised and everybody hates this? haha this kicks that songs ass
| |
Pretty sure no band ever comes out and says "we're definitely going to rely a lot more on chugging to drive our music". Also, I disagree that new WLIM song was better than this.
| |
The new WLIM is much catchier in my opinion. This is fairly boring.
| |
Yeeeah the new WLIM track is way better than this. I'll admit the breakdowns in that song are weaker than the ones in this song but overall I like it a lot more.
| |
KSK1, on their 'fanbridge' site, kids have asked them about their 'new' approach (a lot are pissed they dropped the southern sound) and Kellen (guitarist) has outright stated they want to be heavier and use chugs. They're not re-inventing the wheel, that's obvious and they know it. So why not be upfront about it?
| |
Well, if it makes them feel better, they're sounding a lot less interesting now.
| |
I didn't like it at first, but it's growing on me. Third chorus kinda ruins the song, but the "...richer in the end" breakdown was neat. As for lyrics, they're ok. Some lines are better than others. *insert fake laugh*
