Good to see Bon Scott near the top.
|
| |
A lot of these guys are in bands that aren't metal.
...take that Hetfield haters
|
| |
Ha ha ha. Yay for Jon Bon Jovi at 31!
|
| |
Whoever included 11 68 and 88 should be shot. Anyone who thinks Led Zepplin are "heavy metal" in the modern sense needs to seriously step out of the 70s. And since when have Queen been a "heavy metal" band!?This Message Edited On 12.01.06This Message Edited On 12.01.06

wtf is Rod Stewart doing on here? My grandparents listen to him.
|
| |
Oh, and Robert Plant is kind of overrated. I saw live footage of Stairway To Heaven once. He wasn't very good.
|
| |
Looks like Hit Parader have just taken few mainstream metal/hard rock vocalists and filled the rest of the list up with mainstream rock.
David Bowie?! Jimi Hendrix?! WTF
|
| |
In some ways it wasn't as terrible as I thought. In others it made me sick. I mean come on, David Lee Roth in the top 20? And what the hell are Zack de la Rocha and Fred Durst doing on there? Zack just rips off Chuck D of Public Enemy, and Durst sounds like a constipated rat.
Most of these singers aren't even in metal bands, so it's a bit of a misnomer. They're only mentioning more obscure vocalists like Phil Mogg of UFO as lip service to make themselves sound more credible.
|
| |
Since when is Led Zeppelin heavy metal? I even read a quote by Robert Plant regarding heavy metal with him saying "Led Zeppelin was never about that [heavy metal]"
whoever made this list must be old.... good to see Bruce Dickinson in the top 10 though
|
| |
Obviously it wasnt supposed to be a heavy metal list - and was labelled as such instead of top Rock Vocalists - Was pretty impressed with the list til the end of it, but guess they ran out of ideas - my only main gripe is Lemmy only 48th... wtf???
Oh and Thor Rod Stewart was very good in the old days with the Small Faces - proper hard rock not what you think of him nowThis Message Edited On 12.01.06

Steve Perry really knows how to sing heavy metal songs like "Faithfully."
|
| |
Dude, Kurt Cobain? I love Nirvana but jesus he wasn't a good singer. Plus they aren't evenm fucking metal just influenced by it.
|
| |
So ah, where's the metal? They have enough actual metal names here for about 25 person list. It's a sad, sad day for Hit Parader.
|
| |
I love how a lot of these people aren't heavy metal vocalists, or even metal vocalists.
|
| |
also a good number of them seem to be dead
|
| |
Maynard James Keenan at 21?
He should have been at the Top 10 at least.
Hold on, this is a chart for HEAVY METAL vocalists? Maynard's not even heavy metal, he's more Prog! This Message Edited On 12.01.06
|
| |
Robert Plant at No 1 is understandable, that guy has one hell of a voice. This Message Edited On 12.01.06
|

You can edit that^.
|
| |
....Mike Shinoda? Ville Valo? No.
|
| |
Fred Durst???? There goes any credibility this list had...
Also, when did the Chili Peppers become "heavy metal"? I must have missed that memo...
|
| |
Since when is Zeppelin Heavy Metal? God, these lists are so fucking stupid.
|
| |
My mom listens to Rod Stewart
|
| |
I hate this magazine.
|
| |
Where's Chad Kroeger?
Just kidding. Some of these are pretty awesome, but most (Mike Shinoda, Axl, Amy Lee) aren't even heavy metal.
|
| |
Hit Parader is the worst music magazine ever devised. It's poorly edited, the articles are a joke, and they recycle headlines for bands. For example:
They used the headline "Taking Their Time" for 6 months for System of a Down...and never once mentioned BYOB, even thought it was getting heavy airplay.
|
| |
I see Dio and that's all that matters.
|
| |
BOO 11 & 68
w00t 38
|
| |
Fred Durst?! OMFG WHAT A GAY MAN
|
| |
You know a list of famous vocalists is stupid if they put Fred Durst and Chester Benington on higher numbers than Mike Shinoda. At least Daron Malakian isn't on this list. This Message Edited On 12.01.06

Im so glad I stopped buying this magazine years ago. Worst list ever. Where the fuck is Mikael Akterfeld from Opeth? And Maynard James Keenan should be top 3 at least! Chester Bennington and Aaron Lewis should not even be on that list. Fred Durst has more of a metal voice than they do hahahahaha. Respect for Halford being near the top of the list!
And to Rage_Against_The_System: Tool are metal in their own way, just not totally metal and not totally prog!
|
| |
Good list for the most part...why is Lemmy at 41? he should be top 10. Maynard James Keenan and Layne Staley should be close to the top of that list too.
|
| |
bowie???
|
| |
Worst list I've ever seen, although Cobain being ahead of Keenan provided quite the laugh.
People to learn what good singing is, and what separates it from flat notes drunkenly delivered in a slightly nasally tone.
|
| |
Jamey Jasta? Ville Valo? Jon Davis (16!!)?
I mean really. Yuck, what a list.
|
| |
yes dani filth and dio
|
| |
this should get shot
|
| |
I have this magazine. I read it, and knew Plant would get #1
|
| |
Heavy metal...
|
| |
No Mikael Akerfeldt? Are you kidding? When it comes to actual metal, he rules.
|
| |
OMG theres a list I dont agree with
|
| |
"Maynard James Keenan at 21?
He should have been at the Top 10 at least."
my thoughts exactly.
|
| |
Wow, Lemmy should be higher.
|
| |
They should have included Danzig
|
| |
what the hell is up with fred durst being on there.
and what about Chuck Billy, or any of those other guys?
rhcp and lincoln park arent heavy metal
|
| |
Its cool Zack De La Rocka and Chino Morono are on there, but why Fred Dusrt and that guy from godsmack, and where are John Bush and Joey Belladonna form anthrax?.
|
| |
That is the worst list ever.
|
| |
Where is Nick Carter?
|
| |
isnt it obvious that whoever made this list has no idea wut heavy metal is. I can understand Serj and Bruce but Jimi Hendrix??? thats just wrong.
|
| |
a shit list, maynard should clearly be seated at number 1, what a ridiculous list, morons.
|
| |
Mike Shinoda? Isn't he the one rapping? :/
|
| |
More people need to post in this thread and say, "____ isn't even heavy metal".
|
| |
More people need to post in this thread and say, "____ isn't even heavy metal".
No, it would be a better idea to say things like "____ is heavy metal". Because then it we are finished in no time
The addition of James Hetfield, that Megadeth guy, Ville Valo, Dani Filth and Fred Durst make this list poo.
|
| |
Okay, this list is the worst ever. But nice to see one. Lots aren't metal and they spelled Ian Gillan's name wrong. Why is Ray Gillen at 100? should be closer to 20
|
| |
I highly disagree with some of the people on this list.....KURT COBAIN? Are you fucking kidding me...and robert plant as number 1 is not a good choice
|
| |
.

Honestly the worst list I've ever seen.
|
| |
As expected, 90% of that list isn't metal at all. Stupid magazines that don't know what metal is.
|
| |
The fact that most of the list doesn't include metal vocalists doesn't bother me. What angers me is that Axl Rose is on the list. He has the worst voice I've ever heard.
|
| |
what the fuck is amy lee doig in this list????????
and king diamond should be on the first places as well as layne staley and lemmy
|
| |
I've never even heard of this magazine, and I already hate it.
|
| |
How about Ian Anderson, the singer of that great Metal band, Jethro Tull?
|
| |
Derek St. Holmes should be on this list.
And I've never heard Zack La Roca or Fred Durst SING. Can they?
|
| |
Phil Anselmo #37...are you kidding me??? This list needs to be purged and re-writen.
Everybody remember this Friday December 8th is the two year anniversary of Dimebag's death. So pour yourself a shot of Crown and Coke (Black Tooth Grin) and say a little prayer for our fallen brother Dime...Getcha' pull!!!
|
| |
Excuse me- does that say Scott Stapp? You must be joking.
|
| |
But I agree Maynard should totally be higher.
Whoever put where is Nick Carter? Is Hilarious!!!
|
| |
^^ i agree. Hurray for Ville Valo, Mike Shinoda is good. This list is hardly 1/4 heavy metal.
|
| |
Steven Tyler and Bon Scott above Freddie Mercury? Is this some kind of joke?
Also, Ian Gillan, the banshee himself, all the way down at 43? Here's how you make this list good:
1) Take Freddie, put him at the top
2) Take Bon Scott, Ozzy Osbourne, and Steven Tyler off the list completely. Give their spots to Ian Gillan and Jeff Buckley, and move Geoff Tate way the fuck up.
3) Move Rob Halford below Chris Cornell.
|
| |
THIS IS OFFICIALLY THE MOST RETARDED LIST EVER! HALF OF THESE PEOPLE ARENT
EVEN METAL! AND THE ONES THAT ARE EITHER SUCK OR ARE TERRIBLY MISPLACED ON
THE LIST!This Message Edited On 12.10.06

| |
mike patton is missing
fuckig list
|
| |
Sounds like they just pulled a lot of popular and semi-popular singers out of their collective ass... not to be a Tool fanboy but why is Davis higher up than Keenan? etc..
Pretty shitty list.
|
| |
chester bennington should be the number one!!!!!!
|
| |
The person who posted this list has completely misinformed you with the title which he has used. Hit Paraders' list is about the 100 Top/Best Vocalists of all time of all genres and NOT of the heavy metal genre. Therefore all comments stating that half of the names on this list are not metal are null even though the people who posted this are not at fault as this is what the guy who posted the list made them believe. I have the above named issue of the mag infront of me right now and what I am saying is a fact...Now whether you agree with the selections is another thing but I felt like clarifying this point because it matters...
|
| |
http://www.hitparader.com/
|
| |
I agree.... list is not that good but it's more acceptable now that you know it concerns all genres and not just metal...in regards to the selections some are probably included because of their influence to their separate genres as well....the fact that other good singers are missing is undisputed but the fact that you cannot have an absolute list with everyone agreeing upon is also undisputed....I bet that each one of us commenting on this list can think of at least 10 other vocalists who should had been included...
|
| |
preety retarded list for sure...I'm totally agreeing with crossfiyah.
|
| |
Layne Staley? Number 27? AFTER KURT COBAIN? SHAME!
|
| |
Is there really no Danzig but Chester Pennington and Scott Stapp? The misinformed douchebag writers at this mediocre zine that called Emperor doom metal can fuck themselves with a sleigh bell.
|
| |
There are so many vocalists on here that have not in the slightest got anything to do with metal. Freddie Mercury? David Bowie?
|
| |
Why is Corey Taylor on this list?
|
| |
Genuinely one of the worst music lists I've ever seen.
|
| |
I seriously just saw Fred Durst on this list......really
|
| |
no Mike Patton or Daryl Palumbo? lolwut?
|
| |
Are you kidding? Why James LaBrie of Dream Theater is not on the list? And Serj Tankian no.26? He should be no.10
|
| |
So many of these aren't even metal, Plant rules though
|
| |
wow how gay
|
| |
Gavin rossdale
Fucking wow
|
| |
whats with these bumps to posts from 1606
|
| |
It's a Heavy Metal list, right? So Russell Allen should be in the top 5 vocalists, no contest, but he's not even in the list... (Roll eyes)
|
| |
1,3,4,6,9,15, 17, 20 are even't even metal singers typical BS
|
| |
Zack just rips off Chuck D of Public Enemy, and Durst sounds like a constipated rat.
|
| |
99% of magazine lists are fucking trash
|
| |
awful
|
