James Murphy tumor recurrence

2011-11-14 by Voivod STAFF | 26 Comments
James Murphy, former guitarist for critically acclaimed metal acts such as Testament and Death, has been recently diagnosed with what appears to be a tumor recurrence.

Murphy had been through a brain tumor removal surgery in 2001, removing approximately 70% of the found malignancy, while the remaining 30% appeared to shrink at that time. Most unfortunately though, the test results from Murphy's recent medical examination, consist of tangible evidence that the tumor might be gaining in volume again.

the link i put in my previous comment says that Murphy's tumor only grew a little and the chemio and surgery will be avoided for the present time.

Damn yeah that really sucks. Not a huge fan of death or testament (metal isn't really my thing), but can respect what he's done for the genre and music as a whole. Can't imagine what it's like to think you're recovering well only to find out that things aren't going the way you want. Best of luck to the dude.

In the link i posted in the first comment of this thread, the doctors said that the tumor increased only a little, and that Murphy will avoid chemio and surgery for now, while he will receive a moderate but careful treatment.

The US healthcare system is bullshit. You shouldn't have to pay for potentially life-saving procedures :/

Unreal and sad that he and Chuck would have the same ailment.

You shouldn't have to wait until you die to get them either...

This really sucks, though. Hope he makes it through.

On the bright side, it's been ten years since he was diagnosed; that's a hell of a prognosis for brain cancer. My dad lived exactly three months after his diagnosis.
