fuck this band
|
| |
There's something about Mumford And Sons that makes my skin crawl. I fucking despise them.
|
| |
yesss it's another mumford song that is fantastic out of context
but within whatever album it'll inevitably be from, it'll sound like every other one
whoops
|
| |
Like listening to wallpaper.
Although there's a new Frightened Rabbit song on the sidebar so clicking on the link wasn't a total waste of time :D
|
| |
the masses finally like an indie band and this is what they choose smh
|
| |
"Like listening to wallpaper."
Perfect description
|
| |
so good, stoked for their next album
|
| |
the world didn't explode?
|
| |
didn't keep my interest for too long
|
| |
"fuck this band"
this^
I love listening to the same banjo part over and over in every single one of their songs
|
| |
god I hate this band more than any other band ever.
|
| |
when you were young, i was not old, but our story was not told
Genius. Fucking genius. You know, I thought that real meaning and depth in songwriting had disappeared from the mainstream but here are Mumford & Sons, defiant and proud, proving me wrong yet a-fucking-gain.
FUCK.
THIS.
BAND.
|
| |
I like that one song by them that starts off fairly subdued but gradually builds up into a kind of crescendo.
|
| |
I caught part of their Glastonbury set on tv and nearly punched my own face off.
|
| |
Artificial, manufactured indie rock
|
| |
had no idea there was this much hate for these dudes. ive never heard them personally but a few of my friends i know like them
|
| |
It's just plastic and lifeless folk music with no imagination or genuine heart.
|
| |
nothing mindblowing, but nothing really wrong with it either
|
| |
To be fair, they werent as grating when they first debuted but almost everyone paying attention could see where it was heading.
|
| |
Their music isn't atrocious, it's just so bland and inoffensive and blatently written purely to shift units.
|
| |
|the hate for this band on sputnik| = |the love for limp bizkit|
|
| |
Screw you
I love me some Mumford
inb4 some elitist prick combs my ratings to prove their superiority to me
|
| |
I still like this band, fuck you all.
|
| |
That was ok. Was never a huge fan of these guys, but there music is nice to listen to now and then. Never knew there was so much hate for them.
|
| |
No this is everything that is wrong in modern music. I have no problem with vapid catchy harmless unoffensive bland boring unoriginal uninspired pop music (I like Enrique more than Godspeed) as long as it knows that is all it is. But this IS that but pretends to be "good" music which is just so bad and makes it fail artistically on every possible level...also their songs aren't well written and don't vary at all.
|
| |
Oh do shut up rabbit
|
| |
still say FUCK YOU ALL i love my mumford
|
| |
owl city is better and i mean that very seriously
|
| |
Bah, "pretense" as a concept is just something people slap on music in recent times. But who calls Led Zeppelin pretentious? They didn't name their first four albums. Or Rush, who released Hemispheres (a prog album of 4 songs)? No, pretense is a rather dumbfounding term to use in the music industry.....
|
| |
You hate this band because they got big you elitist fuckers. Stop being preschoolers.
|
| |
this band is good. fuck you guys. *listens to the cave*
|
| |
deepintheorchard speaks the truth. You are all whiny turds that need to get pissed on. you've probably never seen or touched a vagina because that's too "mainstream" and only fags do unoriginal shit like that.
|
| |
Loved it at first, then it got boring.
|
| |
don't like the music fine but don't accuse them of writing it just to "move units" that's retarded. they didn't blow up until about a year after their debut was released. I agree that they're kind of annoying now (I was rolling my eyes when I watched their set streaming from Coachella) but the hate they're getting here is just ridiculous. I saw them at Sasquatch "before they were big" and they were so good.
anyway fuck you all I still like this band. I don't love them but they're good.
|
| |
lol you guys calm the fuck down
|
| |
Yeah that "writing to move units" part pissed me off also.
|
| |
yeah so just listened to the song. that was pretty bad.
now I don't know, was I wrong about this band? I don't remember Sigh No More being so fucking boring... but that song was... not good.
|
| |
it certainly was no deftones
|
| |
YES A MUMFORD & SONS BANJO SOLO
|
| |
i liked them when i first heard them, but they got old real fast cuz basically all the songs sound the
same. things got really out of hand when the masses tuned in, then i was outright sick of them.
|
| |
You hate this band because they got big you elitist fuckers.
^^Yeah, this. It's one thing to think they're bland, but you children are taking it to hatred based solely on their level of popularity.
|
| |
OMG This band is popular? HATE HATE HATE HATE!!
|
| |
don't like the music fine but don't accuse them of writing it just to "move units" that's retarded. they didn't blow up until about a year after their debut was released.
The fact they didnt catch on until 6-12 months after their debut is not proof that they arent a generic mass market "indie" band manufactured by a giant record label. I think the fact they came out of no where, did no touring really at all before their album, and had a giant budget video for their single 2 hours after the record was released speaks more about their credibility than the speed at which mainstream America decided to get on the bandwagon.
|
| |
meh
|
| |
"No this is everything that is wrong in modern music. lol, just wow lol
|
| |
Yeah, that was quite the epic fail.
|
| |
lame as possible
|
| |
"(I like Enrique more than Godspeed)"
that about sums it up right there
|
| |
sexualsoybean, your comment didn't respond to what I said really at all. their music was clearly not written to "move units" as their relative obscurity when their debut was released proves. if they were only in it to move units then why did they not pinch out an EP or two in the past year to rake in more cash? oh yeah because that's not why they make music.
like i said, dislike the music fine, but don't try to blame it on anything other than personal taste. itt people are hating this band for all the wrong reasons. except that lyric Knott quoted, that's a terrible lyric and a legitimate reason for disliking the song.
|
| |
I've never felt the need to strangle a person I have never met before, but somehow Rabbit proves himself the catalyst for change once again
|
| |
i agree with everything aids said
|
| |
god so many idiots posting
So its cool to hate this band because they are 'popular'? Stfu, seriously, you hipster fucking tards. You most of all Rabbit. Your a fucking idiot.
|
| |
I can quite easily listen to one or two of their songs, but I couldn't listen to a whole album in one sitting. It's nothing to do with being elitist, I just find it boring.
|
| |
because every fucking song sounds the same.
|
| |
yeah but that's not reason to call them worse than owl city i mean
i don't like them but i refuse to bandwagon and be all FUCK THIS SHIT THIS BAND IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF RUBBISH SINCE THE HOLOCAUST because it's just okay, repetitive music with shit lyrics
|
| |
i agree with everything aids{...}
You heard it here first folks!
|
| |
I was in love with Sigh No More when it came out, I gave it a 4.5 (I think i have it as a 3.5 now). Then like a year later everyone on sputnik started saying they were the worst band of all time. It was all very confusing for me; this is why you need to feed me my opinions on new music before I listen to it, come on sputnik.
|
| |
it was.... ok?
|
| |
"The fact they didnt catch on until 6-12 months after their debut is not proof that they arent a generic mass market "indie" band manufactured by a giant record label. Implying that musical quality degrades with funding. wait, what the fuck kind of logic is this?
|
| |
The arguments in this thread have decided my 150th review for me.
|
| |
"Implying that musical quality degrades with funding. wait, what the fuck kind of logic is this?"
That's indie logic my man. For example, I'm a big fan of Arcade Fire and loved their album, The Suburbs. But then it won a Grammy, and although that didn't change their existing recordings per sé, their songs all changed at that moment.
And in all honesty I understand both sides of the argument for Mumford & Sons.
|
| |
Ah, undue hate. I've been on the internet long enough that it doesn't motivate me to argue or actually get mad, but sometimes I just slump onto my desk and ask "Why...?"
I enjoyed it.
|
| |
Haters are most likely stupid fat americans that don't like the accents or something. Mumford and Sons are the shit!
|
| |
"You hate this band because they got big you elitist fuckers."
This. The hate for this band is unwarranted. They make good music and just because they're popular isn't a reason to dislike them... Damn, hipster society fucked up royally when it decided that a popular band can't be good.
|
| |
Incredible band. Still absolutely certain that these will go down as one the biggest bands of all time one day; they're gonna be timeless.
Dig this song, it's nice and chill. I still think they're yet to release a poor track.
|
| |
"Haters are most likely stupid fat americans that don't like the accents or something. Mumford and Sons are the shit!"
Ha.
They're not egregiously bad or anything but they're very, very bland.
|
| |
"There's something about Mumford And Sons that makes my skin crawl. I fucking despise them."
This a million times over.
|
| |
good song
|
| |
Zzzz
|
| |
Wow, I didn't expect this when I made the article. I don't necessarily like this song, but I really enjoyed Sigh No More (I have it at a 4). I actually like that they're popular, it adds variation when I listen to the radio and Little Lion Man or The Cave comes on. I'm not saying that I don't enjoy pop radio, but some of it gets old over time. I admit, some of Mumford & Sons' songs bore me, but as a whole I think that they are a very talented band
|
| |
Bands get big and all of a sudden people think they get hate because they are big. Use logic. If a band is now big or bigger, of course they will get more hate, because more people know about them and listen to them. More people probably like them too.
That being said, I have not listened to this band other than this song... and it was quite weak.
EDIT: Wow, like super weak. It went nowhere.
|
| |
sexualsoybean, your comment didn't respond to what I said really at all.
Because I agree with you. I dont think they "write music to move units" thats just silly. However I do think they are bland, generic, boring and a bit manufactured.
I still have their album at a 3 or 3.5. I dont think they are terrible. I just hate that this is the indie band girls on facebook shout about when there are much better options out there.
|
| |
Writing music to move units? LOL, these fools didn't get popular until like 12 months after their album came out? Shut the hell up you f'ing douchebags. They aren't excellent, but there's lots of room for an improvement. I mean, it was a 3.
|
| |
That's indie logic my man. For example, I'm a big fan of Arcade Fire and loved their album, The Suburbs. But then it won a Grammy, and although that didn't change their existing recordings per sé, their songs all changed at that moment.
that is the most retarded thing ever. no they fucking didn't, you're just a dipshit who cares to much about how the public perceives the music you listen to. that album winning a grammy had literally zero effect on my enjoyment of the album. if it did for you then you suck at music, hard.
Knott, oh man excited. It will probably be like your Noah and The Whale review except I will disagree with it haha.
|
| |
I'm a big fan of Arcade Fire and loved their album, The Suburbs. But then it won a Grammy, and although that didn't change their existing recordings per sé, their songs all changed at that moment.
This is a joke post right?
|
| |
too many people on this thread suck. Song was a step above anything on their debut, but it's still the same rehashed lifeless stuff.
|
| |
thebhoy - I thought it was a definite step down; I liked their debut.
|
| |
The hate for Mumford and Sons is not simply because they got popular, but because there is a lot better indie folk that is much better than them, that gets no credit in the mainstream. Furthermore, Mumford and Sons music is quite gimmicky and tends to rely on a few songwriting cliches. The band is not bad, but for the most part they are just decent, not good by any stretch of the imagination.
|
| |
the one reason why were talking about this right now; little lion man. they wrote one catchy song the masses could latch onto and it turned into a wildfire.
why the hate for this band and the people that listen to them? expand your musical horizons dude--
|
| |
song was fine, wtf is everyone bitching about? band is kind of a bore but who the hell cares? listen to what you want to listen to why the hell do others opinions change yours? that's why they're opinions.
|
| |
everyone go read Knott's review right now
|
| |
someone write a hipster-dissing counter review
|
| |
still stay the are awesome
|
| |
So yeah, fuck this band.
|
| |
good band, good band
|
| |
ew
|
| |
Lol you guys are stupid. This band isn't nearly as bad as you make them out to be.
|
| |
Just clarifying that the first half of my comment was sarcasm. It was satire poking fun at the hipster mentality, based on reactions I saw after the Grammy win. I thought the way I worded the last sentence would be a giveaway, and I also said per sé.
Gotta relax Aids. Gonna bust a fufu valve.
|
| |
I had no idea it was cool to hate these guys!
|
| |
Don't like them, but they aren't bad. Idiots in this thread.
|
| |
sputnik cares very deeply about the sincerity and integrity of its chosen musical artists all of a sudden
|
| |
going back to titus andronicus now thats real music about my real life
|
| |
Where's all this "manufactured" shit coming from. The main reason they blew up so fast is because they had connections with Laura Marling and through her record label people.
So many fucking chinstrokers on sputnik.
|
| |
i just read apollo's responses here and in knotts thread, his blood is boiling
|
| |
The fact that so many people have called these 'manufactured' has made me realise that there are a lot of people on this site that don't understand the record industry.
|
| |
Comments in news articles like this is exactly why I love sputnik. Full of idiots.
|
| |
made me realise that there are a lot of people on this site that don't understand the record industry.
Sputnik is good for the laughs though.
|
| |
stupid hipster poseurs. this band is great and this song is good
|
| |
This is a song. Not much else to say about it. I mean, my brain is telling me these notes sound good together (until the end, at least), but my heart was completely unaffected... Wouldn't give two shits about folk if this were to be considered good folk. Maybe that's why there's hate? B/c the popularity makes this a common interpretation of what folk is and that might make people who are open to the message but not into folk yet lose interest and discredit the genre without anyone to let them know any better? Which would be a disservice to good folk artists pouring out their tortured and well-weathered souls to try to make a more collectively fulfilling life experience. Just sayin'.
|
| |
dont like bland, generic indie? FREAKIN HIPSTER POSER!!!
|
| |
Hey everybody we're getting off topic here, remember...Fuck this band
|
| |
This was horrendously overplayed at my work. I wanted to throw all the copies of it in the dollar sale bin.
|
| |
hate this band
|
| |
"i thought this was a step up imo at least its not an exact soundalike to every song on their debut"
did you even listen to the funeral? lol
|
| |
"i thought this was a step up imo at least its not an exact soundalike to every song on their debut"
did you even listen to the funeral? lol
|
| |
Fuck the haters, Sigh No More was a fantastic album.
|
| |
nope.
|
| |
