And you've heard the whole thing where? Nevermore albums are almost ALWAYS better in their entirety. And they have a tendency to release the worst songs on the album as singles (Believe in Nothing anyone?). Your judgment seems unfounded unless you've heard the entire thing.
Also, new song isn't what i'd call great. It isn't This Godless Endeavour material. But it isn't awful.

Hard as ever to appreciate Nevermore with Dane wailing like he does, but I'm sure I'll be able to zone the vocals out after spinning the album for a while.

Pretty dissapointing tbh. Loomis is definatley one of the best modern guitar players, but after releasing his solo album, his leads are starting to all sound the same.

Loomis got like tons of magazine and webpage articles about This Godless Endeavor. I've never really listened to the band, but just as a spectator thats the timeframe he got his permanent reputation.

Probably because This Godless Endeavor just plain ripped off your face, chewed it up, swallowed it, vomited it back up, chewed it a little more, then fed it to baby birds.
