1st Supernova Tracks Released

2006-09-15 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 6 Comments
Two new tracks from Supernova, featuring brand new lead singer Lukas Rossi, have been posted online via the band's myspace page.

Since early July, Supernova [Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, Starfuckers guitarist Gilby Clarke and ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted] have been searching for a lead singer through the reality tv franchise Rock Star, broadcast by CBS in the US. On Wednesday night, the band finally decided upon Torontonian Lukas Rossi, whose previous credits include touring with The Tea Party and I Mother Earth.

'It's All Love,' a symphonic rock track and 'Be Yourself & 5 Other Clichés,' a glammed-up power-pop stomper are the first tracks officially released by the band. Both are presumed to appear on Supernova's Epic Records debut, produced by Butch Walker [ex-Marvelous 3] and penned for released November 21.

i loved how before they kicked someone off the show they made it sound like they were going to choose them and then they said "...but you're going to be the next one to leave"

This sounds way better than I thought it would. I knew he would sound better in the studio! Some of his live stuff annoyed me like the way he had to reverb every note he sang and his muffled words. But these songs are really catchy It's All Love sounds like Lennons part of I've Got A Feeling "Everybody had a hard year..." and so on. And Be Yourself is really freaking catchy all though the talking parts arent that good.

My diagnosis is that there not as good as one would have expected, there not on the same level as other supergroups like Velvet Revolver, and Audioslave. But there going to be a good change to most of the radio rock, and I'm really liking Lukas' voice even though I didn't like it much while watching the show.

The tracks suck in all honestly. Yay for 80's hair metal revival.

I loved how they showed a commercial for Survivor five minutes before they picked Lukas.

A commercial of Survivor that showed clips of Lukas, Lukas, and more Lukas.

I'm guessing someone lost their job over that.

yeah and truly ruined the "live show" idea that non myspacers who read's Dave N's blog had

so...
