Supernova was formed by Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee in July of this year after he was approached by CBS' Rock Star reality TV franchise with the idea of auditioning singers on live TV. Ex-Guns N Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted were soon added to the line-up; Clarke and Lee had previously teamed up in May as part of an all-star KISS tribute group at VH1's Rock Honors, a group which also contained Rob Zombie and Slash.
Supernova's as-yet-untitled album is scheduled for release on November 21. It will be produced by Butch Walker, who co-wrote and produced the hit single 'Good Times' with Lee last summer.
