Iron Maiden/Dream Theater Tour

2010-03-04 by Bfhurricane | 51 Comments
Iron Maiden have announced details of a six-week summer tour of the United States and Canada with progressive metal act Dream Theater in support.

Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy commented: "It is a bit of a dream come true for us. After 25 years together, at this stage in our career, there's honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for and Maiden is one of them. It is an absolute honor.

"Through the years, we've done many one-off shows with Maiden and they've almost all been overseas. It is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them and on our side of the pond no less. These are gonna be amazing shows that the fans won't want to miss. Up the f***ing irons!"

Messed up the format and the link... should be fixed now.

For me this is only short of Metallica opening for Iron Maiden. I'm a sophomore in college, seen Iron Maiden 3 times in my life, they're hands down my favorite band. I'm fucking stoked.

i find pettruci's guitar work, while technically awesome, devoid of personality plus James LaBrie is one of my least favorite power metal-esque vocalists.

I've actually heard someone say that, if they deigned to attend at all, they'd be leaving before Maiden...

I would, it's definitely a band that will be held among the elite in years to come and who you'll be proud to say you've seen live.

i've seen dream theater twice. first time when i liked them it was great, second time i just went because a friend had an extra ticket. i wanted to bash my head up against the wall. all they did were their ballads.

i do not enjoy watching 250 pounds of james labrie showing me how majestic he can be

I've loved most of their millennium material though, and the live DVDs have shown they can still rock it with the best of them on stage.

As for Dream Theatre, Black Clouds was a great album. I can't say anything about their live show unfortunately, having never experienced it.

New album is called 'The Final Frontier'? This makes me a bit worried that it'll be their last. If so, they'd better play somewhere in the middle of England like Birmingham or Coventry, as I really want to see them live, even more so if it turns out to be their last tour.

Was something wrong that a news mod had to edit this? Just curious.

They're going to fucking Jersey but not Boston... -_-

Watch your mouth, Jersey has a handful of the best selling venues in the nation. If I were you I'd make the 4 hour drive to Madison Square Garden, you don't want to miss this show.

They better come to Australia.
Is anyone else also excited for the new album?
I really loved AMOLAD, and Dance of Death before that.

"No Montreal = Fuck you"

Actually, they are playing in Montreal, July 7th.

Definitely don't wanna miss the Toronto gig, its gonna be so sick. I've been to a total of three concerts in my life: Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, and Isis. So this would be epic to see two of my favorite bands of all time play at the same venue!

Fucking yes, Pittsburgh! PPG Pavilion is balls for traveling and parking, but Iron Maiden is worth it.

Dream Theater... eh. Seems kind of weird to have one of the dullest live acts in history opening for one of the best.
