Damn man, way too young. Cancer is the worst, but this guy was so positive despite his situation. RIP
| |
RIP, 47 is just horrifically young. This band and his voice were huge for me as a kid.
| |
dreadful to hear, hope his passing was peaceful.
| |
Their music may have become shitty butt rock as years went on but those first two albums are GOATED for sure in terms of early 2000’s rock and Brad seemed like a genuine dude who always kept it real. RIP
| |
I know people thumbed their noses at this band but I always had a soft spot for Kryptonite. Very catchy song. Never really checked them out besides that but maybe I will now. RIP to him.
| |
RIP so hard.
| |
That's sad. I know they're the butt of a lot of jokes because they're generic alt-rock and touted religion for a while, but I've appreciated them more often than not. Was a big fan of their earliest stuff and even some of their mid career stuff. Self titled was the last one I thought was decent, everything after that sucked. Still, lots of nostalgia and appreciation wrapped up in their music. RIP.
| |
So sad to hear of this, man! 47 is far too young to suffer this horrible death
| |
RIP legend
| |
Brutal, RIP, definitely learned how to play kryptonite on guitar when I was a little kid
| |
I am going to stop being an asshole for once and say RIP. When I’m Gone was the first song I heard by them and I remember liking a boy in first grade who liked it.
| |
these guys were absolutely massive when I was a kid
| |
RIP/fuck cancer. Kryptonite / Let Me Go are slaps
| |
This one really got me. They had some legendary songs and I'm gonna be jamming today
Big RIP
| |
I'm pretty sure my first comment was on one of their albums
| |
I’d say Kryptonite and Lifehouse’s Hanging By a Moment were two of the first songs I tried to learn all the lyrics to (wasn’t allowed to use the computer back then obviously so I had to just listen to them on Y101)
Sad to see him go but at least his family members were there for him.
| |
sad to hear. he deserved to live out the dream.
we didn't all hold him when he was here but we can love him when he's gone
| |
Hard RIP. Brad seemed like a really good guy.
Fuck cancer man.
| |
RIP : (
| |
Such a shame. RIP
| |
RIP
| |
I kept singing Kryptonite and Loser all the time during my last emotional crisis, and it helped big time.
| |
Way too young. Often mocked but clearly influential and a staple of the mainstream rock scene through the 2000s. I was pretty obsesses with 'Never Will I Break' and 'Away From The Sun' as a teen. RIP
| |
like i said in the other thread: i have no respect for this dude; i will pray for his wicked soul
| |
Hard RIP
| |
Shut up bootlicker
RIP. too fucking young. Fuck cancer.
| |
Hard RIP. Great Voice. My prays to all his family and friends.
| |
The first thing you did when you heard that someone that you didn't know had cancer was look up their political views? Is that how you figure out how you are supposed to feel?
| |
Some people brought it up when he was diagnosed last year.
| |
it was a well established fact
| |
People are typically judged by their convictions and morals. Nothing new there.
| |
Kryptonite is one of the best songs I've ever heard, and one of those songs that was CONSTANTLY on repeat 20 - 25 years ago. May he rest in peace, he sang some of the best songs of my childhood.
| |
It's super sad how many chads have said their farewells to this futile world over the last few months 😔
| |
RIP Brad
| |
"The first thing you did when you heard that someone that you didn't know had cancer was look up their political views?"
me personally, I didn't have to look it up, I remember that shit like it was yesterday. cancer's a horrible way to go and my condolences go to his family, but forgive me for not shedding a tear.
| |
Rest in peace, Brad. Thank you for the music.
| |
some truly evil demented people in here. not surprising but depressing all the same. even all the same, i hope you never have to experience what cancer does to you. rip brad. an absolute tragedy.
| |
RIP. Can't say my personal views align with his much (if at all), but he wrote some absolute bangers back in the day. I still think Kryptonite is one of the best-written pop rock songs of the last 25 years or so
(Also, I just realized that it's actually been 26 years since that song was released. That just makes me feel old...)
| |
yeah, Kryptonite is an undisputed tune, no getting around that.
to be honest, it's not really on him. hard to understate how much systemic indoctrination goes into shaping people's beliefs, especially when you're a white dude growing up in pre-internet Mississippi. I'm sure the guy didn't mean any ill will, it's just really hard to ignore.
| |
I'm not going to attempt to reconcile the contradictions of the man's faith and some of his decision-making, but no one should have their life taken from them so young. And by something that was caught so late as to be irreparable and akin to a death sentence. Awful shit. RIP.
| |
RIP, way too young. I think it's fair to say that if you liked rock music in the 2000's, 3 Doors Down was ultimately part of that soundtrack.
| |
We knew it was coming but damn, still pretty crushed by his passing. Loser and Kryptonite were such huge parts of my childhood. I remember Loser being one of the first songs that sounded profound to me and had me all introspective at 7 years old. Which sounds hilarious in hindsight but that song has always resonated hard with me.
| |
I guess it was his time.
