Led rocks the world

According to AVRev.com, LED ZEPPELIN is the top Rock Band of All Time.
But it's no ordinary poll. To celebrate AvRev.com's 10th Anniversary, they created a very complex poll that made use of the following:

U.S. Sales (100 points),
Songs/Songwriting (100)
Technical Ability (100)
Live Performance (50)
Consistency vs. Longevity (50)
Random (50)*

With no real suprise, LED ZEPPELIN topped the list with 525 points. Not only did they score high with their amazing songs/songwriting, but also with their their consistency as a band through the years.
The top 10 is as follows:

01. LED ZEPPELIN - 525 points
02. THE BEATLES - 514 points
03. PINK FLOYD - 506 points
04. THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE - 503 points
05. VAN HALEN - 496 points
06. QUEEN - 493 points
07. THE EAGLES - 479 points
08. METALLICA - 468 points
09. U2 - 455 points
10. BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS - 454 points

Voting on the list was done by an esteemed panel of judges including: former DIRE STRAITS guitarist Jack Sonni, University of Southern California Thornton School of Music professor Ken Lopez, Xhifi desktop speaker company president Howard Schilling, as well as AVRev.com founder and publisher Jerry Del Colliano Jr. and AVRev.com's music editor Charles Andrews.
The entire 100 band list can be found here:
http://www.avrev.com/bands/

*Random is a category that allows a judge to vote on how likely he or she is to want to hear a band's songs on their iPod playlist.

Curious as to how all those bands got over 450 when it appears that that is the maximum score.

AS much as I like seeing Zeppelin top a "best" list, your article comes off as really biased.

Completely and utterly ridiculous. "Best" lists already suck, but this one reaches new heights of stupidity. It's a bunch of BS is what it is. Absolutely craptastic.....

I like Van Halen....they shouldn't be on that list though. Neither should the Eagles, Metallica or Marley.

Why are the Black Eyed Peas in the top 100? I didn't expect to see Primus or the Roots though. STP is pretty damn high too. How did Rage get a 26 for live performance, their shows are insane and I hear the Roots shows are intense also. This Message Edited On 06.29.06

The Black Eyed Peas were only ten spots lower than radiohead and the Dixie Chicks were higher than Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I don't totally agree with this list.
I don't see how Bob Marley or Van Halen can be on the Top 10.
I was, on the other hand, glad to see Tool and Radiohead on there, they could've been higher up, but whatever. It's just a poll.

Its no surprise a band of Led Zeps calibour would top a list such as this. Its just al the bands poeple collectively love really, with Pink flyod, the Beatles and such like. Very generic.

Red Hot Chili peppers were ranked very low, very odd. This Message Edited On 06.29.06

Surprised at all the Marley hate. He should actually be closer to the top, and is one of a small handful who truly deserve to be on any "best of" list....

Id say that nobody has the right to say whos the top 10 bands of all time. words wise i think the best time for music was the 60s and early 70s. It has the most soul. What Led Zeppelin did was incredible. every album was made so good. i mean they suposibly sold their souls, so i suppose their music should be good

This list is definately a load of Bullsh*t even though I like to see Led Zeppelin on top. How did Van Halen get on there?
U2 don't even deserve a spot in the top 100, let alone 10.

I'll respect their opinion it could be alot worse. Like have Nirvana in the top 25.
Ha Frank Zappa got 5 for album sales, poor dude. Oh god didn't see ones and stuff.
I just disagree with their score for the Stones but whatever. This Message Edited On 06.29.06

Dude, who cares what these douche bags think. I mean, look at the list, these aholes think record sales make a band Great or worth listening too. Songs/songwriting, live performance, and consistency vs. longetivity should be worth way more points.

led zeppelin the beatles and floyd dont surprise me all the rest do though. actually i can understand marley he sold so many albums and almost all of his records were highly praised and bringing reggae to the mainstream
pretty dumb list songwiting, live performance, and all that is important but sales should have been lower.

zeppeling, floyd, the beatles all deserve to be there.

eagles are there due to hotel california being the best selling album ever, i dont think van halen should be there, i think there shit, but many people do like them. Queen are one of teh greatest bands ever, and should be higher, hendrix is teh greatest guitarist ever, and has influenced millions of people, so no suprises.

I only think U2 shoudlnt be on there, ive never thought they were great.

Van Halen with a higher technical ability than Yes? As a band?

Wasn't happy to see The Velvet Underground and the Kinks so much lower than the Dixie Chicks, but you know, it's opinion. And with album sales thrown into the grading scale... whatever.

I could think of a ton of bands much more consistant than Van Halen or Led Zeppelin. Both of those got really mediocre in their later years. Stones and Beach Boys really should've been top ten.
