When I saw them live a week ago, they played this song and Savior and they both were pretty bad. BUT, they played another song from their new album called "Ireland" (or something like that) and it was actually a great song... So I'm not sold either way on this upcoming album, yet.

Pretty average song. I've only ever heard El Cielo as far as entire albums go.

This band is painfully mediocre.

Based on what?

burnafterbreeding

Based on the fact that their music is extremely dull and almost obnoxious to listen to. The guy's voice is so beyond grating to my ears. Not to mention both new songs are complete garbage.

yeah, pretty bad.
they won't be able to destroy Leitmotif and El Cielo for me though.

Sorry if that came off a little harsh, they aren't the worst thing I've ever heard. I just can't stomach all the hype behind this band.

El Cielo is overrated but I have like their first three albums, things are looking bad for the new one though. Saviour is terrible, this one is just bland.

I acually really quite like it, it is great and I don't see the big letdown for you guys. Maybe it is because I didn't find El Cielo to be Christlike or because the lyrics hit home for me but w/e.

I think it's funny to hear people criticize the vocals. They're quite good as it is, but there's so much more to their music than that, seriously. This Message Edited On 04.25.09

Nor do I understand the criticisms of Dredg's singer. He's really good. And I really like that song. I thought it significantly better than the other one.

Nah I don't get the criticism's either, Gavin's got a good voice and I find more anti-hype goin on around this band than conventional hype. Seems like bringin them down is the thing to do 'round here. I can't say I disagree with the comments on the new tracks tho. I still have some faith for this album

Are you kidding? EVERYONE on this site loves this band, thats what I don't understand. I feel I'm in a very small minority. But again, there are plenty of bands I love and some people just can't get into, thats the fun about having tastes.

I like chocolate ice cream, yo motha likes me. Its all the same.

dredg need to stop pretending that they're an electronic band and go back to making interesting music. Just saying.

I just saw these guys in NYC the other night
and this song sounded a lot better live

it had a heavier feel and the chorus sounded huge..

but it doesnt do much for me now that im listening to the studio version

(not that its a bad track, im sure ill be humming it at work)

It seems that every time Dredg plays NYC, I always seem to run out of money right before I find out they're playing.

New track is painfully boring. Bass sounds good though.

the bass is actually synth done on a keyboard in the verses and then he hops on his bass in the chorus' which was kinda cool

everyone loves this band because leitmotif and especially el cielo were fucking amazing...

catch with out arms was a relaxing easy listen, with some really good jams

the new stuff seems like gavin has too much control of the creative process because all of the songs are beginning to be more and more focused on his vocals... they need to go back to just jamming the fuck out. its bullshit

Definitely better than Saviour.
They played 2 new songs besides Saviour and this when I saw them in November, and both of them, Ireland especially, were way way wayyy better than the two that have been heard already.
On a side note, I hate the drum production.

Well I just saw them live Tuesday night and some of their other new songs are much better than the 2 that most have heard. As many have mentioned Ireland was great, although I thought Information was the best of the new ones (used to be called Waterborne I think), and Light Switch was very good too. Not sure why they chose to release the 2 they did, but give the album a chance still.
